Hi there,

I just want to say thank you for invitig me to join this group, I am very excited and am really looking forward in taking part.

My daughter was born on 11 January 2008, her name is Makayla.

Just a quick question.. has anyone started with potty training yet? We bought her a potty this weekend but haven't tried it yet, I think I am totally in the dark on this topic. She takes her nappy of when she is wearing dresses but when wearing pants she doesn't know how to pull it down yet. She also complains and looks very uncomfortable when her nappy is wet or dirty, is she ready or not??

I also get the idea that she doesn't quite understand everything we tell her yet, she will just stare at us with a blank look on her face at times, thus I doubt that she will understand what she must do on the potty.

Kind regards to everyone.

Im not sure on this and I have twin boys born Jan 2008 but I have read that the earlier you potty train the less likely to really be trained they are. i would think she is way too young.

We had a 19mo foster child who was 25mo when she left our home and she was just starting to grasp the potty concept although she had been like your daughter in removing her own diaper and hating a messy diaper. She would even bring me a diaper when she was dirty. But, the doctor told me to wait for awhile longer on the potty training because she knew after but wasnt old enough to know before she needed to potty. Make sense? We also waited due to her return to her biological home. The doc said any stressful situation could make her go backwards and it was just a waste of time to start then.

Hope all this helps.
