14 month old activities

I am a cook and have been involving my son in our nightly cooking rituals since he was bout 6 months. I put him in his high chair with something to drink and let him "help" me cook. I let him smell the things I'm cooking (minus raw meat...haha) like herbs and vegetables, and if it is age appropriate I let him taste the different fruits, veggies, seasonings. He has started to look forward to it every night and it is great bonding time. I have learned that he definetly has a sour tooth like his Momma. He LOVES pickles (and has since he was about 6 months), lemons and limes (only let him taste once in a while..bad for the teeth), fresh herbs like basil and oregano and will even knaw on strips of peppers and onions. It's just something fun to do and keeps him from hanging on my legs while I cook. :)

I have a 15 month old and 4 month old, so its hard to find things to do with them together. Usually we all sit at the table together for meals, we play outside on her new playset, go for walks [except my oldest is obsessed with her ball, so that keeps her occupied]. She also LOVES swimming, and it's a good way to burn energy.

Don't worry too much about her understanding, it's amazing what children can figure out! :D Not sure I can be too much help, we have a little toy stroller for Elise with some dolls, she adores drawing, and we have one of those toys with the wire on a block of wood, with wooden shapes that you move along it...(does that make any sense?) which also keeps her amused for ages!
We are a little lucky though, she has an older brother to keep her amused most of the time :)

Thanks for your ideas guys.I would love to do play dates and things like that.But I get around by bus when my husbvand is not home so it is a little harder...But I will surely try painting and drawing!!! I have tried to show her how to roll a ball and she has no interest in it...My husband was alos thinking about buying those push cars, but I am not sure that she will understand how to get in and out of it...

My daughter absolutely loves her ball. Shes very active w.it inside & outside...have you tried to teach her how to roll it to you? Thats my daughters newest accomplishment, she will now sit in a *circle* and roll it back and forth! also, she loves bubbles and dogs! So whenever we go outside we bring lots of bubbles & look for dogs. She also loves books, so the library is a great place for us to go and explore a new world and bond together.

My lil girl is really starting to mimic so we are doing lots of rhyming, pat-a-cake, round and round the garden, twinkle twinkle lil star etc. Bubbles are a fun idea. Cora has just started drawing too. We are in Autumn so gathering leaves and crunching around in them lol and of course water play, a bucket with spoons and containers to fill always fun (outside of course) or in the kitchen sink while I'm cooking or cleaning. I've also taken to biking which is a great way for me to get fit, Cora loves it - being higher up than her push chair.
I always think put some toys and books away that way you can swap them round every now and then and they feel like new toys again :-)

We bought our son one of those cars that you push him up and down the street, park, playground...he loves it. After I bought it I noticed a lot of moms have the exact same one. We got it from Toys R Us..check it out. We also joined this group called Music Together. Its sort of a playgroup that allows children from birth to age 5 participate playing instruments, socializing etc.. Check it out in your area www.musictogether.com. I live in a very limited area so playgroups and playdates are far and few between. I think just allowing your child to enjoy the fresh air will be fun too.

Hi, my boy LOVES to draw and paint. I sit him up at the table in his booster seat, wearing old clothes and give him some paper and colours. I have found kids tube paintbrushes (the paint comes out through the brush, so less mess) are great. Also parks are fantastic. I dont know a lot of other people with kids but even if we go to the park he loves to watch and socialise with the other kids there.

Me and my son love to play hide and seek. I got him a swing for outside. He loves it. He is really into bubbles and sidewalk chalk right now. Finger painting is also one of our new experiments it was messy but has to be done outside for sure. We love going on walks to the park and interacting with the other children. Hope the ideas help :)

Pots and pans are big in my house! also, giving her boxes to fill with baby animals and other small toys! She loves that. Now that the weather has been nicer she loves to swing and try to catch bubbles! All are every inexpensive!!

Makeup is not a very good idea in my opinion.
I was wondering about a slide.It might be more interesting, cause she can climg the steps by her self I suppose!She has a swing and completely hates it.I would of love the play date also.But none of my friends have babies.I tried going on a site for moms and no one responded to my post...

my little girl loves to swing and slide, and we are getting her a climber this weekend, she loves to play with sand and sand toys too. :) Go for play dates too, that's encouraging!
