A friend's baby used to hate bathing also, he would scream. She was told to put socks on his hands (maybe a security thing?)and it worked! He was much calmer.

Wrap him in a receiving blanket and only uncover the part you are washing. It worked for my baby, he loves his bath now. We only had to use the blanket a few times, it was a security thing I think.

My kiddo isn't a huge fan of bathtime in his little tub, but when I take a bath with him in the big tub he does great. The first time I bathed him, we got in together and I let him nurse for comfort until he got used to it. He loves it when I hold his shoulders and let him float and kick his legs. :) The first few times I bathed him when my husband was there to help us in and out, but now I just put a folded up towel next to the tub to rest him on while I get in and out. It works really well and we both get a nice warm soak.

That link i sent doesn't seem to work. It'll take you to their main page though...then just click "bath time" on the left side and you'll see what i mean.

Check out the Tummy Tub bath tub on this website. It's pretty expensive and I'm sure you could find a similar shaped bucket of some sort for a much lower price...but it says the shape makes the baby feel secure and back in the womb etc. Maybe that would help him out.

If you scroll down the webpage there is another one with that shape "Spa Baby European Bathtub"

My daughter absolutely loves the bath but at first she hated it. A trick we learnt was putting a face cloth on her stomach because it is a security thing. But as already mentioned something about the situation may have scared him and now you need to get him over that. Where do you bath him? Do you have a baby bath or use the big bath? If it is a baby bath change the room, if it is the big bath get in there with him. Think about the time you bath him as well - maybe you need to change it until he is use to the bath.

oh no! I would go back to just sponge baths for now I guess...maybe when he gets a bit older it will get easier for him (and you). I don't know if the water birth would have anything to do with it but maybe.

I put a space heater in the bathroom half an hour before I give my daughter her bath, the warm air seems to help, she still doesn't really like it, but it helped. Also, sometimes I sit in the tub and breastfeed her while my husband washes her.

i wonder if robbie being born as a water birth has anything to do with it???

I know my little guy has a hard time once and a while. But for us it's a temperature issue...the water is too cold, or the house is too cold on the way to the tub, or my hands are cold or just the temperature change from being in a nice warm bath to getting out of the water on the way to the towel. Now that the weather is getting warmer here hopefully it will get a bit easier because its less drafty etc. Something about the experience must be scaring your baby. Does he take a soother? Or does he like soothing music or have some type of distraction until you can get him in and situated? My son wont always take his soother but one time he did and it made things easier. If he REALLY hates it you could always go back to little sponge baths until he gets a bit older. Good luck!
