My son will be 17 months June 29 and will not drink out of a sippy cup. I have bought an endless supply of cups, you name it, I probably have it. He drinks out of Dr. Brown bottles and a friend of mine suggested a Dr. Brown cup, of course he didn't want that either, I have tried Nubby's and cups with Elmo on them, he loves elmo, I have bought cups with straws, cups that almost resemble bottles and nothing is working. I have been told just to throw away his bottles and he will have no choice, but I'm afraid that isn't going to work. Anyone have any suggestions? or Anyone else going through this?

Wendy it's frustrating, he knows how to drink from them, I think I said it in an earlier post, he will take a sip and then spit it out as if it tasted different or funny. When I put it up to his mouth, depending on his mood, sometimes he will drink, sometimes he will let it flow out of his mouth and think its funny then other times he slaps it away. I try a few times a day, once all his molars finish cutting through ( he has all 4 molars coming in at once now, not a happy time ) Im going just start offering the sippy cup at lunch and dinner, if he doesn't drink of out it, then he'll have to wait for the following feeding. I talked to my pediatrician about it and she said as long I wait till the molars are done cutting through, she said do it, he then will have to make a choice, then just ween it down to a bed time bottle

I am Having the Same Problem with my two boy 1 and 2.
I Have also wasted money with buying nubby and Tommy tipper.
Even Nuk. But nothing seem right for me either, so What I do is, I give them a bottle in the morning, then I try a cup during the day, still i have trouble. But sometimes when i put the cup to there mouth they take it. But the bottle is good when they go to bed.

I used a cup with a flexi straw (Munchkin is one brand) and showed him how to suck the drink using the straw. I also warmed up the milk before putting it in the cup. Just keep trying a few times a day (and try not to show your frustration) until your baby warms up to the idea. It took me a while to get my son convinced too! Good luck!

Hi, D, I have bought the bottle with the straw in it and he doesn't like that either, he does drink white grape juice and wont drink that out of any sippy cup either. I bought the sport bottles as well, the only thing he drinks out of that is water, I've tried putting milk or juice in it, he wants no part of it. When I say I have almost every sippy cup, Im not exaggerating...lol. Thank you trying to help, I do appreciate it, good luck with your daughter.

Try a straw instead of a sippy cup. And try a sports type bottle. Also maybe try putting something new in the sippy. A sweet juice that he has had and you think he will like. My daughter still does milk in the bottle but juice and water in a cup. She did a juice bottle in the moring for awhile and I thought she wasn't getting enough with the cup, but really it just takes her longer she eventually drinks it. Now we just have the milk switch to do and those bottles are just before nap and bedtime so I am afraid of changing those and have no idea how to do it.

Thank you Anissa. Liz, I I've put the bottles out of site so he doesn't see them and he still wouldn't drink out a sippy cup, he ate his lunch that day and didn't drink anything because I refused to give him a bottle and just put his milk in the sippy cup and left it on his tray, he kept throwing the sippy cup on the floor.

My son know what comes out of it, I have literally sat there and watched him take a sip out of his Elmo cup then just spits it out as if it tasted funny, but I will actually will still try letting him take sips with out the cover and then putting the cover back on . I bought him these cups made by nubby, they have handles and the tip is silicone like a nipple from a bottle. he has taken a sip out of that, but makes faces, so I don't know if it comes out too fast or too slow, Im telling you, he's one of a kind. Thank you for your response.

My daughter just turned 17 months and shes kinda of going threw the same thing, she is off the bottle but now uses a soft tip suppie cup, so its almost like a bottle, the only thing that works for her is i put strawberry milk in a hard cup and take the lid off and give her a drink so she knows its milk and then give it to her with the lid back on, it kinda of helps. hopfully it could help you.
