About a month ago I started my little one on solid food. Started with the cereals and then veggies and now starting to introduce fruit. I make all of the food myself, but when I feed him, I have been mixing the fruit or veggie with cereal. Should I stop doing that? I read that for his feedings, he should have 2 tablespoons of veg/fruit and two tablespoons of cereal for each meal (Parenting Mag.) What do you think?

What I have noticed is that my son doesn't like when food is too pureed or too liquidy. That's why I started giving him the cereal with the veggies or fruit. As of now, he nurses when he wakes up around 6, then two tablespoons of cereal around 9 and nurses again. For lunch he gets two ice cubes (which I measured out to be two tablespoons) of fruit or veggie and one tablespoon of cereal and nurses again. Nurses about three hours later and for dinner has two tablespoons of veggies and two of cereal and nurses right before sleep. I wish I could know how much he's eating while nursing!

My daughter hasn't started solids solids yet, but I've been doing a lot of research since she will be soon. I think what you're doing sounds fine! You might want to introduce fruits and veggies on their own as well, because I would think the flavor and texture would be a little different than when mixed with cereal. Once you've introduced a new food, you can combine it with others however you want to.

I think I am feeding my son to much lol, after reading everyones response! I just started this schedule this week, but he gets his cereal in the morning for breakfast plus a 7 bottle and then a few hours later get a 7 oz bottle for snack and then at lunch gets 2 ice cubes of veg and 2 of fruit and a 4oz bottle and the same for dinner and then a 7oz bottle right before bed! He is 6 months old? Is that too much, Like I said I just started it so he hasnt shown signs of eating too much?

I started feeding my son at 4 months. He is now eating 2 tablespoons of rice cereal in the mornings and 3 ice cubes of veges or fruit for dinner. Sometimes I give him fruit for breakfast instead of the cereal.

I actually mix 2 tablespoons of fruit into his breakfast and dinner cereal. He loves it. Then I feed him half a container of vegetable at dinner.

Hi, I give my son cereal and veggies on the side. He doesn't like them mixed together. So i usuallt give him a few bites of one and than a few of the other. He likes his veggies way better than the cereal tho so im going ot start giving him cereal than the veggies after that is gone. Otherwise he spits the cereal out and wants veggies. Which i guess is good at least he likes them. Good luck
