Does anyone have any suggestions to get my LO to drink water? He just turned 1 and he won't use a sippy cup and won't drink water. I offer water in a sippy cup at every meal and he shows no interest. Don't know what to do.

yeah just keep trying alot of adults don't drink water because it doesn't have flavor. Try the crayola flavor stuff or try dropping a pinch or so of sugar or something in it to give it flavor. Just keep giving it he will take to it. I always have a sippy cup in the floor for my daughter so when shes thirsty she knows where it is. Luckily she loves water. :) Good Luck

try a regular cup. U'll have to help him, but sometimes if they use "big people stuff" they are more likely to take interest

My son won't drink from a sippy cup so we decided to try a cup with a strawl and so far it's working. It's a cup for his age with a rubber strawl. Try adding a little lemon to the water to add some flavor. He may like it.

My LO hates drinking anything but the boob! :) A friend of mine suggested the Tommy Tippy Explora cup with straw and he loves it. I've never seen him drink so much. It's only been a couple of days but I'm convinced. :)

my daughter turned one on the 24th of january and she loves her cup because that's all she gets her juice in. i never put anything besides milk in her bottle. when it was time to let the bottle go, i started putting water in it. she went straight to a cup and she actually preferst to drink water out of a regular water bottle, with a little help of course. i also mix her juice: 1/2 juice, 1/2 water.

my son wouldnt drink water at first so i went to walmart and bought this flavored water by crayola and would put a lil bit of that just enough for flavor in a glass of water. Crayola has no added sugars or anything which is great!!!! I would also put a lil bit of v8 diet splash ( has the vitamins with veggies and fruit so hes getting it all in one) with some water. My son also wouldnt take a sippy cup at first i started giving him them around 5 months to wein him off bottles so i got the nuby sippy cups and some brand that has toy story ones. hope that helps

Let him drink out of your cup (with your help of course). My son won't drink it in a bottle or sippy cup, but if I am drinking it, he will drink it. Also try those water sports bottles. My son gets a kick out of those and drinks from them. He just turned 1.

If he still drinks milk from a bottle-just gradually dilute milk over many weeks then before you know it he will be drinking water. You can also try a pinch of formula in water. So what- if he still likes his bottle and only drinks from a bottle. You can then introduce a tommy tipee cup (only what i could get mine to drink from) latter on. Also try a cup-you will be surprised how quick they learn with a bit of encouragement.

When mine wouldn't drink the plain water i would put in about 1 tsp or a little less of jello powder in the water, mix it well and it gives the water a little flavor. Its good if they have tummy ach's to because the jello can help to coat the tummy(just use a little more in it for that reason). I have also did the water and juice mix. Hope it works for you. Happy Birthday to your little one!

I have tried many sippy cups. Thanks for all your answers they really helped. One thing I found is that he loves drinking from a straw. So I just bought these little cups from walmart and some regular straws. And he has been doing that but he is still a little hesitant with the water. But I am still trying. We are closer though. Thanks again for all your answers and support. I would still like to hear more opinions and feed back.

does he sip from your glass/cup of water or water in a bottle - if he hasn't had it much he might like it better from something you use or something he is used to. Or if he already drinks water maybe he doesn't like the type of cup you have bought and you could try a different style. There are heaps on the market, my son has a non leak Avent cup with handles and has since he was about 6 months.

I would try juices and maybe a transition type sippy cup. I've heard those help a lot when they don't want to drink out of sippy cups.

I was very blessed because Alyssa loves water and will drink out of the spill proof sippy cups

Hope the transition sippy cups work for you!!!!

I started my son on a "sippy" cup at 5 months as well! I used the Nuby brand. They have a soft top! I only recently put watered down juice in his cup! He only got water till about a month ago.

When we started my son on a sippy cup at 5 months, we used a "transition" cup. The one we used was actually called the "soothie transition cup" by First Years. It came with a bottle type nipple and then also with a normal sippy cup nipple. I know there are other brands that have "transition" type sippy cups too.

My son took the cup first try and now at almost one, he will take any sippy cup no problem!

Hope this helps, good luck!

Maybe try mixing 100% juice with water. When my son get's juice, it's 1/3 juice and 2/3 water. My son also prefers the sippy cups with straws (spill free), so maybe yours might like that better too.
