I was very surprised at what the doctor recommended at Mycah's 6th month checkup (born 7/24/08). He said to introduce him to eggs. His instructions were to boil and egg and put 1/4 of the hard yolk in his morning cereal for 2 days and then put 1/2 in his cereal for 2 more days. Said to watch to make sure he didn't break out or react to it and after those feedings if all is well he can start having a little bit of eggs on the weekend morning with us. I haven't heard of this with any other babies his age but he didn't react and seemed to like it. He's been on solids since about 3 months i believe and doing well. Has anyone else done something similar?

Hi Christina,

Thats interesting that your doctor recommended starting eggs. I think at my daughter's 6 mo. check up her doctor said not to because of maybe having allergies. Although, now that I am thinking about it, he might have said eggs and dairy were ok, but to avoid peanut butter. Hmm. Either way, we have only given her fruits and veggies so far. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

Quoting Jennifer:

didn't the doctor say boil the egg that's different from scrambled. hard boiled egg is cooked better then scrambled. and egg white is not advised till later because they can react to that. and something with there digestive track no good

The doctor said to test with the boiled yolk and if he doesn't react he can have a little of scrambled eggs on the weekend with us for breakfast.

Thanks... I was thinking that it might possibly be because neither his father or I have any allergies at all (or anyone close in our families) so he has a low risk and he did instruct to take it slow.  I finally fed him a bit of  fine pieces of scrambled eggs today.  He was making the funniest almost like I hate this faces but he kept wanting more.  What a character.  Mycah never had an reaction to the eggs so I think we might let him have some about once a week (not too much yet).
