Also, it can take me over an hour to get my daughter to drink 6 oz. I give her what she'll take. We play. I try again. We play. Eventually she finishes it.

My daughter does the same thing and has for a while. It's like pulling teeth (OK, tooth) to get her to take her bottles. I've resorted to pouring it slowly into her mouth. She likes that, although it's messy. You may try that, too. Or maybe from a sippy cup? My daughter also likes that.

There are many days that I don't feed her dinner (veggies, etc.) because I don't want her to be full at all for the bottle.

Good luck! I wouldn't worry too much just yet, cause he's probably just going on a minor hunger strike.

Well I know this is just from one site and indeed each child is different so obviously it's not applicable to everyone...but ona genralized manner even on solids I read the average 6-8 month old gets breastfed every 3-4 hours and drinks around 24-37 oz of formula in 24 hours. This amount lessens as they get older. Technically children only need formula or breastmilk for the first year of life, so solids are just like an extra really! It's just the guidelines and information I've been read and been given, so I would be concerned if he's only having 4 ounces a day...formula is where he's getting all his nutrient intake he needs. That being said kids do goes through stages and some children while teething don't eat very much at all...I think if he's hungry you'll know and as long as he's not losing weight or looking greyish or pale it shouldn't be an issue could just be a stage he's going through!

I would think if it lasts a week or so you should take him to the doctors! Good Luck :)

My son is 8 months and going through the same thing. He has three bottles and the best one is before bed where he finishes otherwise he doesnt with the other too. He drinks quite a bit of water so I offer that as often as possible.

If your really concerned I would see your doc but little ones go through stages and I think this is whats happening with my son and yours. I feel as long as he is eating well then I am happy as solids are suppose to be now the most important. Perhaps wait longer after you offer food and see if he takes the bottle better. He may be too full on food.

Hope that helps.

I wish I knew what to tell you - I seem to be going through something similar. Does he eat solids? Drink water or juice? Is he teething? My daughter eats 3 meals a day and also - on a good day - takes 4 6oz bottles. Lately, I've been doing good to get a full 6oz down her. I would probably check with your doctor - 4 ounces for a day seems low. Best of luck to you! Hang in there.........
