not at all. mmy son is 9 months 2 weeks and isnt crawling yet. he just started sitting up unassisted a few weeks ago and he is starting to scoot he can go backwards but not forwards. dont worry. dont pay attention to those baby books. i dont think ive touched mine in months. just check with the DR if your concerned but i mentioned it to Aidens Ped and she said its common for them not to crawl yet. they will do it when they are ready.

My baby girl is 7 months and 3 weeks also and she doesn't crawl. She rolls everywhere though!! And she also loves standing with help. The one she doesn't do yet because she thinks its so funny to push back and giggle away is sit unaided!! She does for very brief periods but just loves pushing herself backwards!

Hi Elizabeth - my 7 month old is not crawling either. His pediatrician said not to worry; some babies never crawl. They just start walking one day!

My daughter is nine months and she still isn't crawling she has no interest in it she likes to stand holding onto things. I was at the doctors the other day and I mentioned it and she said there is nothing to worry about some babies never crawl. I am glad I'm not the only one.

Thank you for asking this question. My daughter will be 9 months soon and still isn't crawling. My other daughter who is 4 years old started walking at 9 months so I was really starting to worry. I stopped taking her to play group because the lady there said I needed to get her working on it and that it would be a couple of really bad days but she'll get it. I haven't been back since it really made me mad. My doctor doesn't seem to have any concerns so I will let her do it on her own time.

As long as she's sitting up, I wouldn't worry. Some do things earlier or later...it depends on the child. They're all different. My son rolled later than than my daughter, but is standing earlier. I know babies that are the same age (8 months), but aren't even trying to crawl yet, yet there is babies 9 months old who walk (God forbid). don't worry she'll crawl in her own time.

Not at all. All babies are different. My niece didn't start crawling till she was a year old. Babies are different....there are average times of course. My daughter is a little over 8 months and she just scoots backwards a little. Encourage her to be on her tummy but if she cries or is frustrated don't force her, she'll do it on her own time.

My son started combat crawling about 1 week ago, so at about 7months 2 weeks old. He just pulls himself with his arms and tries to push with his legs. I dont think he will actually crawl but he is starting to try and pull him self up on things like the coffee table.

My daughter will be 8 months on Friday, and she isn't crawling. She's trying though. I'm not worried. They all progress at their own pace.

Mycah's been looking like he's going to crawl since christmas but hasn't done it yet.  Some people have tried to give me ideas on how to teach him but he just doesn't naturally like the crawling position.  Instead he straightens out and looks like superman! lol.  He loves to try to walk though.  I think he might just skip that stage!

Not at all! Babies develope at different rates, the charts are just a guideline. My oldest didn't crawl until he was about 8 or 9 months. My youngest started @ 6.5 months, just depends on the baby.

[deleted account]

Holy cow Jaime, is your little guy standing on his own??

Laynie has been crawling a 'few steps' for a month or two, then would sit or change directions, then the other day she took off and now, at almost 8 months she is crawling all over the house and trying to pull up on every dangerous/ unstable object possible! I don't know how to get anything done anymore, unless she is napping, it is near impossible! I have to watch her so closely!!

I agree. My son is 7months and he has been rolling for 2 months. He now doesn't crawl conventionally he arnt crawls which is pretty comical. He loves to be on his stomach though so that helped a lot. Every baby is different I say don't try to rush it they will figure it out eventually.

Gabriel was 7 months at the end of February, he hasn't begun to crawl yet.  These little people will develop at their own pace, some children are laid back and nopt as "eager" to get around and move about, others are antsy and figure it out sooner.  I say sit back, relax and enjoy the last few weeks or even days of relative peace :)

My little one is 7 months & 2 weeks and she still isn't crawling.  In fact, she really hates being on her tummy.  However, she can sit up and bounce on her bottom for ages!  I'm not too worried about it - she seems happy.  There are times though I feel she should be doing it, as I have a friend who's son is 6 months old and he's been crawling for a month and is now starting to stand and move along the couch!

But, she's happy - so I'm happy.  She'll figure it out when she's good and ready.  I wouldn't worry about it too much at the moment.

I hope this helps a bit :-)

no.  Crawling happens anywhere from six months to nine months and some children skip crawling and go strait to walking.  Don't worry I am an ECE and teacher and this is very normal.

My baby girl is also 7 months old and she isn't crawling either. She does roll but she only rolls in one direction - to the left. Other than that, she's figured out to slowly slide with her belly but she tends to move backwards and not forward. Recently, I have seen that she gets on her hands and knees, then rocks her body back and forth, but then falls on her belly. Who knows, maybe she will crawl - but according to my mom neither myself nor my sister ever crawled when we were babies. Once we turned 1, we just decided to get up and walk.

Hello everyone,

My baby girl is still not crawling......but she gets on her hands and knees and rocks like she wants too! Now when we stand her up and hold on to her hands, she takes steps!!!  Just thought I would update everyone, Thanks for the support.

[deleted account]

My eldest didnt crawl till he was 8 months old, my second son was 6 months and my daughter was 7 months just the other day and she isnt crawling. They all do what they can when they are ready.

[deleted account]

Coming from a mother of eight and the youngest being born in July, some babies never crawl, they take straight to walking. She is still a little young to be crawling yet. Give her more time and she will get it.

Hi Elizabeth. No crawling in our house either. Sometimes I think it's my fault a little because we have dogs and I don't like my daughter crawling around in all the dog dander and mess. You know putting her hands in her mouth etc. However I do try to keep her bedroom and her playroom downstairs as doggy free as possible and encourage her to move about. She loves to stand and can roll from her front to her back not so keen on back to front yet. But she does move towards something she wants, it takes a time but she gets there.

Hi Elizabeth, I don't think u have anything to worry about. I have heard a friend of mine saying that her baby's physio says that some babies don't even crawl, some will just start to walk.

My little one is also 7 months & she is moving like she wants to crawl. I will give her a toy & she slides to the front until she gets it. A little motivation is all they need.

Let me know how she progresses.

Hi my daughter is 7 1/2 months and she can't sit or crawl yet. She has been rolling over for a few months now and just starting to get up on her knees but not for long periods of time. My daughter was a very small baby at birth 4 lbs 12 ozs and is about 3 months behind in stuff but doing the steps all in the right order. Our physical therapist is keeping an eye on her delevopment as well as a child development working. These people were coming every week at first to now every 6 weeks to a 2 months apart. There is not much to worry about has long as our babies don't go backwards in the skills of development. I know my little one is doing just fine and great in my eyes in all she does and needs to do next. I let her go on and do things at her own pace, just love and be there for our babies, that's all we can do for support....

I wouldn't worry at all.  My daughter is the same age and because she is so large she isn't crawling either.  Is your daughter a larger baby? Maybe that's the reason.  Also, don't forget that lots of babies skip the crawling stage completely.  If you are really concerned though, talk to her doctor.  Good luck.

you have nothing to worry about, all kids develope at different rates. My daughter didn't crawl until she was 11 months and now she is running and into everything. The books give averages but no baby is the same. As long as she is developing well and is healthy let her crawl on her time!

I wouldn't worry....crawling is not a developmental milestone that docs and child development experts look at...they are more concerned whether your child is rolling, pushing up on arms while on stomach, cruising furniture, walking, etc.  If your child is not crawling yet...don't sweat it! My daughter is only 7.5 months now and has been crawling for a month already, and I wish sometimes she would slow down, she is my youngest and I was hoping she would stay a baby a little bit longer LOL....

Not at all. Some babies never crawl, they just go straight to pulling themselves up, or walking. Alex never did like rolling over, and barely ever did it. He just started crawling at about 7.5 months, and now is all over the place.

I wouldn't worry too much!  Babies tend to do things at their own pace!  I have been one to worry myself b/c my son started this scooting adventure when he was about 6 months old and still has not moved on to the actual crawling stage.  My son will be turning 8 months March 7th and I have finally learned that he is just going to do things the way he wants..and at his own pase.    Actually just a few days ago he started to pull himself up..all alone, just using the couch.  I think we may be skipping the whole crawling stage:) LOL You never know!

My son didn't crawl until the day he turned 1! And walked at 17 months. Now at 2 1/2 he's 'above average' in the gross development area and 'measures out' at a 3 1/2 year old level for movement. So, they all catch up. If you are worried, though, talk with your pediatrician or developmental screening center to see where your babe is! (We had a physical therapist come out once a month for a year to monitor his development).

Thank you all, I was getting a little worried. After reading your posts, it all sounds pretty normal! She is always  wanting to stand whenever you grab her hands. She also moves backward on the floor, but it is more of a belly slide. lol.  Maybe she will be one of those babies that never crawls and goes right to walking.  I love this circle of moms, your posts just made my day!
