My daughter will be 3 in two weeks and she's dying to ride in a booster seat like her friends but she is petite, only 26lbs and I want to keep her in the infant seat until 40lbs like the manual says, but that could be a long time from now. Does anyone know the height/weight requirements for booster seats?

Safekids.org has quite a bit of useful information regarding car seats and booster seats.

I got the Graco Nautilius for Brandon after he turned one. Kids can be harnessed in it until they are 65 lbs. and I plan on using it with a harness for as long as I can. He is very comfortable in the seat and never fights about getting into it. Now he even like to latch the chest buckle himself. Also, he can not get out of it at all. My niece is 9, but she is only about 42 lbs. and not yet 4'9" tall. Kids should use a booster until they are 4'9" tall because that is when the regular car seat will hit them in the correct places. IMO 3 year old is way to young to rely on the cars regular seatbelts to restrain the child even if a booster is used. I would recommend using the 5 point harness as long as possible, but everyone has an opinion. Good luck.

your child should be 40lbs before she's out of the harness on the car seat. especially if she is petite!!!! my son is 3, and tall... i thought i bought a great car seat but turns out that some harnesses are more adjustable than others, and ill have to buy ANOTHER seat for him just to fit his size. its a pain... but especially if she is small, you should really stick with the seat with the harness. a seatbelt just wont protect her the right way and could cause more damage in the event of an accident. i hope this helps :)

You could give your local police station a call and they should be able to tell you that information or maybe even the fire station, you could also do research on line to find that information out, some states are different. I know here in GA they just raised the age limit from 6 to 8 as far as needing to be in a booster seat... Hope this helps! :)
