Changing diapers with a squirmy baby

I have tried to distract my 10 month old daughter when its time to get changed, and she is so difficult almost every time. She will not lay still. She is constantly squirming and twisting and kicking her body trying to sit up. It is so stressful and frustrating sometimes. And I worry that as I am trying to hold her still that she may hurt herself with all of her twisting...If someone else is around and distract her while I change her, sometimes works best...but I am alone all day, and I am headed back to work next month and she will be in daycare. I worry about how she may be a problem for the daycare provider, and how she may handle her in that situation. Any suggestions?

Try singing. My daughter squarms, twists and turns but the moment I start singing Old McDonald she is enthralled with the noises I make for the animals. Plus you can add so many interesting animals on your farm that the new animal sounds make her giggle!

i'm going through the same thing as well. i give my baby a diaper to play with or the parmesan cheese shaker (its made out of plastic). she normals talks to it with her baby jibberish or she tries to eat it. it works long enough to get her changed. if that doesnt work, i let her play with my bangs and she's normally content with that

Yeah I give her a toy, my phone, the remote, a wipe, anything to change her and before I even start make sure that everything you need is within hands reach.

i give her anything I can find. Lately I've been looking around for things she has never seen before, that way she is more interested...I imagine I will run out of things before she decides to relax and let me change her. She usually squirms away right as I am taking the diaper off. I can't wait for this "phase" to be done with!!

Yep we're there too. I sing, give him things, anything at all! I often change him standing up on the table, holding onto my shoulders. It's easier when my partner is home to provide distraction or at least hold him down! I'm looking forward to this passing.

OMG!! My 10 month old daughter just started this too! It drives me crazy....As soon as I put her on her back to change her diaper, she begins to scream and arch her back!! She seems to calm down if someone is in the room and is talking to her, but I am alone with her most of the time. I hope this passes soon, I joke and as say that she has entered her terrible 2's early:)

I am going through the same thing with my baby! I just do whatever works for the moment - playing with him, giving him my phone, giving him his bottle, giving him a diaper to play with, singing, anything. Half the time he crawls away without his shorts on but at least he has a diaper...!

It's a stage, and it will pass! Pretty much I give my little one anything she normally is not allowed, I know that sounds bad, but it's whatever is in arms reach, remote control, phone, etc
