Hi All,

How many naps do your little ones have at a year? My son has a mid-morning- noon nap of about 2-2.5 hrs and then an afternoon nap of 45 min - 1hr but I am finding he is now fighting the afternoon nap. Is it time to drop the afternoon nap. What are your routines?

My girl will be one in a few days and she gets up about 730 and goes down for her first nap about 1130 and sleeps anywhere from 1 1/2 to 3 hours. Then back up and she normally takes another at nap about 430 or 5 for 30 minutes.. Im thinking about cutting the second nap out!!

Try droping the afternoon naps. But be ready to put baby to bed about an hour earlier at night. Mine takes an hour to 1 1/2 morning nap.. and mabye 45 in the afternoon... I have two of the toys that attach to the crib and sometime she just plays with them for the afternoon nap. I can hear him giggling and everyting. I let him go and figure he wants "his: time...

My son is up at 630-7 first nap at 9 for about 45 min, then sometimes a nap around 1 for about an hour than again at 5. he goes to bed at 8:30. He's kind of letting go of the middle one and just mostly doing 2.

i was wondering the same thing. My little girl turned 1 on the 5th. She's still taking 2 naps. but is in a "transition" room at daycare, in which they'll start transitioning her to 1 nap when she's ready. How do you know when they are ready? Do they kind of just phase it out on their own?

My daughter turned one yesterday. She fights both her naps some days. Goes down no problems other days. she wakes between 7:30 - 8:30am. Has a nap around 11 - 12 ... then goes down again at around 2pm - 3pm .. only sleeps around 30 - an hour and a half, depending on the day. then goes to bed bed around 8pm

You are so lucky! My son resists naps, and has since he was born. The more sleep the better! Dr. Weissbluth in his book "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby," says that longer sleep has been associated with longer attention spans, which would make for better learning. He recommends that when your child is getting ready to go to one nap a day, try pushing the morning nap later, and go to sleep earlier. Even 6 pm or earlier works for some people. I found that when my son was fighting his morning nap at 10 months, he wasn't ready for 1 nap a day, but putting his bedtime later meant he was tired enough in the morning to take a nap at 8:30 or 9. Tweaking the bedtime seems to be very helpful in regulating naps, even though he still wakes up at 5:30 every morning no matter what.

Our son has up to a 2 hr nap around noon and that is usually it. Some days he may take another small snooze but it is just a cat nap.

My daughter takes a .75-1.25 nap in the am around 9:30 and then a afternoon nap around 1:15-1:45 and will sleep anwhere from 1-2 hours depending how long morning nap was and then gets cranky around 7:30. and is going to bed by 8:20-8:30 at the latest. I wouldn't make her take a nap, but she gets soo cranky. it's like a switch flips and she is cranky.

My son is really back and forth right now. I think he is getting close to dropping one of his naps but he's not quite ready. Some days he refuses 1 or both of his naps. He is miserably cranky on those days. Other days he sticks to his standard 2-3 hour morning nap (@10:30) and 1-2 hour evening nap(@2:30).
He usually wakes up at 8am and goes to bed at 8pm

My son usually wakes up between 7 and 8 am then has a morning nap usually between 9:30 and 10:00 as he starts to get cranky and he will sleep between 1 and 3 hours, then he has his second nap between 3 and 4p.m and he will sleep for anywhere between 30 min and 2 hours then he goes down for the night around 9 :00 and sleeps all night.

There is only 15 months between my two daughters. Mia (2yr 3mth) has a 2 hour nap after lunch. So when Lani came along I automatically ensured she had her main sleep at the same time. Lani is one this week, she dropped her morning and afternoon nap quite some time ago, though she'll sleep for 2-3 hours after lunch. She then goes to bed at 6:30pm and sleeps through till about 7am (except when teething!!!!!!!).

My daughter billie was 1 yesterday and she is awake at 6.30 every morning. She has just 1 nap of between an hour to an hour and a half, in the afternooon. Any more than that and she will not sleep at night until really late. She usually falls asleep at 8.30 pm

depends on our little miss during the morning..some times can wake at 7.30am, be asleep by 9.30am , but only a power nap sleeping for least 45mins. sometimes around 2pm , the moods change & has to sleep but barely every day unless totally utterly tired by 5pm.

Some days my son will take a two naps, 11:00 and 4:00. Other days he won't go down for a morning nap so he takes one at 1:30. I try not to force 2 naps anymore b/c it becomes a big ordeal.

About the same as Janet! My boy now has one nap, anywhere from an hour and a half to 3 hours, usually just after lunch. Some days he is tired earlier so we skip lunch and just have a decent afternoon tea.

for about a month now my little girl is down to one nap of about 2 hours...she used to have 2 "power" naps of 45 min each and she all of a sudden dropped the one and started sleeping much longer for the other, which I prefer cause I can get so much more done. I just took her cues, if you son is struggling try dropping it and see how the night goes!

our little girl is pretty much the same...she just turned 1 today. she usually gets up around 6am...has a 30-45 min nap sometimes around 8:30am (not always though) then she usually goes down again at about 11:30-12 and usually sleeps for 1-2 hours...and then sometimes, but not always she may take a nap around 3 or 4pm for about a half hour....even if she takes 3 naps in a day though she still goes to bed around 8pm with no issues
