i've been giving my 6 month son veggies for a month now. first yellows now greens. he's been on greens for the past week and a half. should i continue to give him greens for a little longer or can i give him fruit now? and now that i know what veggies he can have, should i mixed it up a bit and give him more then one in a sitting or should i still stick with one veggie at a time?? all i can remember with my first born was he started with yellows, moved to greens, then fruits.. so if anyone has any advice or jsut wants to share what they're doing with their children that would be great!!! :o)

Randi: I have been doing baby food with my son Zach for about two months now. From what you have said I think fruits would be fine to start. The main concern is allergies so what we did with Zach was give him each fruit for 3-4 days just to make sure there was no reaction. As of right now, Zach gets half a jar of fruit mixed in with his oatmeal in the AM, then he gets half a jar of fruit and half a jar of veggies for both lunch and dinner. We have found that mixing the fruit with his oatmeal has helped him eat it a bit easier, as it has flavor!!

I think Its great that you are giving your baby a variety. I read in an article that you should try and give your baby as many different types of tastes as possible before they turn a year old. So far, my daughter has only had cereal and her grandma gave her pears...I wanted to do a veggie first, but oh well =]

well i just started my daugther on babyfoods about 2 months ago. she did veggies first and i gave her each one for 4-7 days to make sure there were no allergies. once she went through all the veggies i started her on fruits but because most fruits will make them poop alot i pick 2 fruits and do one one day and the other next until i have done both of those for 4 days and then i switch her to another fruit she is about half way thru her fruits and now that she is nearly 6 months i give her half a jar of fruit for lunch and half a jar of veggies for dinner. i think i will continue doing it that way until she is 8 months old or sitting up completly unassisted then i will start the 2nd foods which mixes 2 foods together in one jar.

I started on fruits and I mix the fruits with yellow veg cos she's not so keen. Pear and butternut squash or carrot and apple. I've not tried greens yet
