I just had one last friday, got to see my lil bug on screen wiggling around like crazy. It was really cool. I finally broke the news to my other kids and my mil and fil. The kids were excited. The inlaws not so much, they are wierd! Funny thing, my almost 2 yr old was in the office with me, and he was watching, then the other night, he was putting his ear to my belly and laughing his head off. Cutest thing though, i wonder why he was doing it. :)

Hi Michelle

I have CF in my family and i have been tested and not a carrier however it would take both parents to be carriers to have a child with CF as it is a recessive gene that requires both parents to carry the gene then a 1/4 chance that both genes align to have a child with CF. I think a carrier can have a child thats a carrier but wont display signs of CF as it takes both sets of genetic material to have the CF.

If you want more information check out the australian CF website. Its a great source and might put your mind at ease outside of testing.

Hope all your ultrasounds went well everyone!

I had 2 so first and only so far OBGYN visit, I thought I was 12 and they said I was 15, but anything more than 14 would be impossible because I know I had a period in October! First one was just basic diagnostic stuff, and the one I had a couple weeks ago was mostly nonmedical 4D ultrasound...we found out she's a girl, got estimated weight, heard her uber-strong heart, and most of all got lots of lovely pictures in 2D and 3D of her face and body wiggling about and posing for us!

I make them give me one at every check up. Im paranoid that way. My first child was premature so Im a little bit of high risk.

I had one when I was 9 weeks, and another when I was 13 weeks. I only got to have the 13 week ultrasound because at my checkup, my doctor was having difficulty finding baby's heartbeat. All is well though, I just have an anterior placenta, which makes it difficult to hear the heartbeat sometimes on a doppler.

My doctor has an U/S in the office, so he doesn't hesitate to do U/S often, which I don't mind at all! I had one at my first appt at 8 weeks to establish dates, then another at 10 weeks to confirm because there was some confusion after the first. Hearing the heartbeat for the first time makes the pregnancy finally seem real!

I had one on Friday, Jan 13 and got to see the baby moving around. Hubby and 2yr old daughter was there and excited seeing the baby. Daughter doesn't really get it yet, I'm sure it'll take time. Our 6yr old will go with us to the next ultrasound as well, he knows he's having a new brother or sister, wants another brother, but of course, daughter wants another sissy... guess we'll have to wait and see!

I have had two so far because I am a carrier for cystic fibrosis and my husband isn't, so my doctor sent me to a perinatologist for an ultrasound for Down's and for genetic counseling. Sort of annoyed by that because they didn't ask for the Down's bloodwork when I did my first tri blood so I am not doing it by its self since it makes me so sick. Supposed to go back there in March for another u/s and they would not tell me why so I am pissed. Got to see my little peanut and the tech said she when she was referring to the baby and took a pic of the butt and there were no boy bits. Wouldn't tell me the sex even though I found out at this point with my son. Oh well soon enough I guess. I may be looking for a new doctor though if mine keeps doing idiot moves like this. Or I will pull like my son and see no doctor until the last 2 months of my pregnancy because they make me so mad. Highly debating that.

I had one on Tuesday and my son almost 5 (who went to all my apt with last baby, who will be 1 next month) really wanted to know if baby was a boy or girl. We had to keep telling him that it was too early. He loves seeing the baby and hearing the heart beat.

I had one this was awesome to see the little bugger that's been making me so sick. Definitely makes it feel more real.

I had one last Friday, both my kids were there - when the sonographer left the room for a moment, my seven yr old daughter says, in a shocked voice, "I thought you were joking." "What do you mean?" I say.
"I didn't really think you were going to have a baby - I thought you were just saying that."
That beautiful image on the screen was lovely confirmation for us all!
