So far it's been over a week since I had my second. There has been the occasional cramps but nothing too drastic. So I would say it depends on your body.

I am having my #5 here soon and I really do think it all depends on your own body. I was the most uncomfortable after #3, but it did not last a month only a day or 2. So really it just depends on your own body and how it heals.

I think it depends on the person. I have 2 already and am expecting my 3rd. With my 2nd I recouped faster and was out and about and running around within days. I felt really good with her but my first I had a longer recovery.

i've heard this too, but after my first, i had contractions for several weeks after she was born. It was every time I nursed I would have some incredible pain (to add to the chest pain). It was joyous ;-) But, my tummy shrunk quite quickly and I attribute it to that. If that is really why, i have no clue, but it made me feel better each time I was contracting. :-)
