Is he sleeping enough?

My son will be 6 months old on Jan. 31st. He started day care last week. Things have been going well, but he isn't napping very long. He sleeps around 11 hours at night, between 8 and 8:30 pm to between 7 and 7:30 am. (not solid, usually wakes up once or twice but puts himself back to sleep in a few minutes) He is consistently taking 2 naps at day care but they are only for 30-45 minutes. A few times he has slept for an hour and a half. He naps again when we get home, usually 45-60 minutes. That adds up to 13-14 hours of sleep a day. I know it will take time to adjust to day care, but I am so worried that he isn't getting enough sleep. I already feel enough of the mom guilt to last a lifetime because he is in day care, but I feel even worse that he isn't sleeping well. Any tips?

It will probably take some time for your baby to get used to that scheduled. The good thing is that he is taking naps. It might also be that he is hitting a growth spurt, maybe even getting sick. Don't beat yourself up about it, babies adjust to everything. You can tell sometimes if they don't get enough sleep because they are either fussy, OR they wake up crying. If they wake up crying after a nap they usually didn't finish their nap right. Sounds like the night time thing is normal. I have an 8 month old and at 6 months slept just like your baby and napped the same. Now she sleeps through the night and takes 2-3 hour naps in the day time

My baby is cared for at home by a nanny or grandparents.. He only takes 20-40 min naps 2-3 times during the day. Sleeps for 12 hrs during the night (with feeding. wakings).. I think he is just fine.. Yours also seems okay to me. My baby never took long naps.

I am not worried because once he wakes up from sleep he is all happy and plays for another 2-3 hrs.

I would guess he was taking longer naps before? It sounds like he's getting enough sleep, perhaps due to the noise at daycare or just natural changes.
