So i was taking my prenatal vitamins and they made me sick. It didnt happen to me with my first pregnancy. But this time around they make me sick and throw up. I feel bad about not taking them. I know my baby needs the extra nutrients but my body doesnt want me to take them. I have tried taking them at night. I have tried taking them at dinner and other ways, but nothing has worked.

anyone else had this issue and got it worked out?

oh by the way, i am 13 1/2 weeks pregnant

My sister had the same problem and her doctor didn't let her take the Flintstones Vitamins either. He said it has Butylated Hydroxytoluene and it's chemical is believed to cause cancer. One of her friend told her about a powder prenatal which she said tasted like juice. If anyone wants more info on it you can just email her at Hope it will help you.

You need to take them. Lack of folic acid can cause spina bifida...which my step daughter has. I take mine at night after eating. If that doesn't work for you, try the gummy ones. They're more expensive, but they didn't make me feel sick.

I was terrible about keeping up with my prenatals on both my prior pregnancies. This time around I'm doing pretty good.

I had morning sickness for the first trimester, nauseous and NEVER hungry, it was constant. When I picked my prenatal, I chose Centrum Specialist prenatals, they come with a DHA supplement that promotes brain development. When I started those, my nausea STOPPED COMPLETELY. The only time I would feel nauseous is if I got crampy for too long.

Go for the Flinstones, or maybe those gummy vitamins they came out with for adults. The prenatals I use are kind of pricey to me, (*$18-$19 for 28) but it's SO worth it in my book.

You can also try switching brands of vitamins, sometimes how they get the 'good stuff' in there will change how you react to it. You could also try picking the most important ones (Folic Acid, Calcium, etc) and take those separately.

Take a chewable flinstone vitamin....thats what my Dr told me to do until I could handle the prenatals again

I have the same problem. But I've found out and realized if I take them at night, just before I go to bed, I'm able to hold them down somehow.

i have had the exact same problem! didn't have an ounce of morning sickness with my first pregnancy, but i am sicker than a dog with this one. one of my friends suggested buying the gummy prenatals and see if they upset my stomach too. she said you can get them at any pharmacy. i'm going out later to see if i can find any.

Hi, I never took vitamins for my first two pregnancies, and my two girls turned out fine. I believe that if you can manage a balanced diet of meat and veg, fruit, dairy and good carbs, then you are getting everything you need. Provided of course that you don't have a deficiency. My bubs due July, 7th, I think you relax a bit more by the third child, lol.

Didn't take with with my first and not taking them again with this one...just causes me to throw up. As long as the folic acid is getting in your body, I think you'll be all set.

They made me sick both times around my dr. switched me to a normal multi vitamin said it wasn't worth my being sick as our bodies would only absorb about half of the pills anyway. My kids are both happy and healthy I wouldn't worry just make sure you are eating healthy
