i have 2 18 month old boys and my husband and i do the discipline, we tell the boys no once and if they dont listen we move them from the situation if that dont work we give them a little tap on the hand and occasionally on the butt. they dont understand time out but they do know sit down and if they keep it up they have to sit down by the couch, but we dont keep them there for along time usually til they wanna get up and thats like at the most 5 minutes later, they know we mean buisness and that they better listen. but it is up to u and what your ideas are on different types of discipline.

I'm just really having to deal with that too. My husband is all for spanking, but I'm not so sure. I'm afraid it will teach my son to hit. I don't know if 18 months is old enough for a kid to understand the concept of a "time-out". So far, what I'm doing is telling my son "NO" very firmly, and if he keeps doing it, remove him from the situation and get him interested in something else. If he throws a fit, I don't acknowledge it and walk away from him (of course, that isn't really an option out in public).

Good luck!
