hi my daughter has only just in the last month or so grown out of it and she'll be 8 months soon but thats not before trying just about everything. She had cow and gate comfort 1 milk as it was thicker so it was ment to help keep it down but didnt! after alot of trips to the doctor because it started to show in he weight the hospital gave me 2 different medications 1 helped move the milk through her system quicker so it wasnt sitting around and the other was to help treat the reflux.she also has infant gaviscon in every bottle ive slowly taken her of the other medication but she still needs the gaviscon. I think you can only get it from the doctor but its well worth it.

Im so glad there are others out there with this problem. My little boy Peter is coming up for 7 months and still spits up after every bottle or meal. at least once a day its projectile and we are constantly cleaning clothes, sheets and carpets! it has imroved since he started on solids but we're a long way off from it stopping!

Most literature says by three months but my doctor says it can take up to 6...and I've even heard of some babies taking up to 9. I am in the same boat. I am so tired of baby spit-up. If your baby is formula fed there is Enfamil A.R. that is made specifically for babies with reflux. It has helped us out a lot.

i give him a 8 ounce bottle and burp every 2-3 ounces. i also feed rice cereal...that helps too. i mix 4 ouces of milk and add cereal till its not soupy anymore although u dont want it too think. add and mix little at a time....feed with a spoon. then i finish with a 4 ouce playtex liner bottle of formula

My son also has reflux, and my doctor said to give him a cap full of mylanta or maalox twice a day. Honestly, since he has begun eating solids it seems to have gotten a little better, maybe the food is weighing down the milk? I don't know. I hope it's over soon... xoxoxo

Thanks for all the advice! I'll have to try new bottles, we use playtex, just not the ones with liners. I'm not sure how much a 4 month old is suppose to eat but my little guy gets 3-4 ounces at a time but he throws most of that up and is soon ready to eat again! His doctor will not put him on any type of meds becuase he is never fussy. As she says he is a happy spitter, she believes there is no reason to put him on medicine for my convenience. but before we left his appointment i think she finally started to understand a little more...she told me a baby with severe acid reflux could spit up up to 8 times a day, he spit up 6 times in the 30 minutes we were in her office!

my daughter has reflux so bad. her dr put her on zantac but even that wasnt strong enough so they put her on prilosec. it is a little bit of a pain to give to her but it is well worth it.

I feel your pain! We started formula at 3 months and it has gotten so much worse! I hate it when he is playing happily and then I hear him start to fuss or breath quickly and up will come the spit up. I know it is bothering him, but the meds don't seem to help us either. In fact I think they are constipating him! I can't wait for it to be done!

By the way, that picture is so cute!!

Normally when they sit up it gets better but it can persist until the yare 18 months old (not the answer you wanted i know)

Another trick is to give less more often as that way the tum is never to full and so less comes out so its less painful espcially if its silent reflux.

My little one has been on meds since he was 3 weeks old. He is just starting to grow out of it now and i have not given it to him for over a week. He still does vomit but its not the silent reflux (the acid coming back up) that caused all the pain. Also he is on a bit of solids a day and solids help with it as well but talk to your health professional before starting solids

hi kara, i'm right there with you and the acid reflux. my son xander is my second with acid reflux. they put him on meds but after a week i took him off because it was more a pain in the butt to administer than anything.....no results. let me tell you, i went through every bottle on the market and have settled on playtex with disposable liners. make sure to push all of the air out before giving the bottle to hunter. a trick i learned too is to still burp about every 2-3 ounces (u have to guesstimate with this bottle). even if it makes him cranky in between feeding, it's worth it. also, you can give him gas drops with every feeding. i was told by my dr that he should grow out of it as he is able to sit up on his own. however, when he is sitting up he spots his toes and over he bends and here comes the result. never fails, lol. oh, also with this bottle to avoid air going back into the bottle while you burp just lay it on it's side. don't sit upright or air will get into the bag....all air has to be out. very important. i really hope this helps you. i would say that xander is 95% better. he was def a mini version of the exorcist, ewe!!!!
