Recently my 20 month old has gone #2 twice in the potty. Should I start full on potty training or just do it when she is interested?

my son in law and daughter in law have a SIX YEAR OLD KID who refuses to go in the toilet. six years of diapers I would freak out. They have tired everything. Any suggestions?

I have three kids. My two older ones (6 and 4 1/2) weren't potty trained until they were about 4 years old. Everyone told me that I needed to start and I went through everything and every tactic out there on my first one. IT WAS HARD! We potty trained for a long time and I gave up many times. On the second one I decided to just wait. I had heard from some people if you wait until they seem ready it will be so much easier instead of trying to push it. So we quite and while it was irritating to have a 3 year old in a diaper/pullup like as soon as they turned 4 years old they just decided to use the toilet and ever since it's been great! They don't even wet the bed at night they wear underwear all the time. My 20 month old has recently started taking off her diapers a lot and saying ewww when she's wet or dirty and wants to be changed so it makes me think that she's starting to get interested in it and she'll even sit on the toilet. So while there are some children that might do it at this young of an age I wouldn't try and push it- if you want to try do it but if your child doesn't seem really ready just be patient and let them do it on their own time because it's so much easier!

Mine has started too, Summer, but I'm just going to let him lead and not push it. Has anyone else started?
