How long after pulling up do they usually start walking? My lil boy is 7 months old and he is pulling up. He cant stand without holding on to the couch or something.. but he has gotten really good at getting up. And i was wondering how long after they start stand, does it usually take them to walk? Me and his daddy both started walking at 8 months, so I'm hoping he starts early..

Remember this isn't a race. The quicker they grow the less they need you. Yours is right on track! My son is doing the same thing and unfortunately I know he will be walking at 8 months. Once he does start walking independence is right behind it. Enjoy what he is doing now and try not to hope it happens asap. The parents with kiddos that are not in a hurry to get up and go are lucky as they get to be needed longer and enjoy the baby stages longer too. Just because a child isn't on the same page as another does not mean they are slow mentally either. Your son will be there soon so hold onto these moments because before you know it they will be gone!

my daughter just turned 7 months and is able to pull herself up even though she is on the 80th percentile for weight. She is also able to cruise ---move herself sideways while holding onto her crib or some sort of support including the wall. was told at 4 months by pedia that she might not be able to crawl as she was over the 100th percentile on weight at that time. lo and behold, that very same day she started crawling. just a heads up for other moms out there who have chubby chubb babies.

My baby girl s 7 months and she is now standing but holding on yo her crib bars. She crawls a lot when she turned 5 she managed crawling in 3 days. Im really not in a hurry for her to walk because i enjoy seeing her on her knees and coming to me as i reach out for her. The doctors said that she growing too fast but that every child is different . So bless all your children .

My son is 7months and pulling him self up on things. He walks holding on the couch. Sometimes he tries letting go to walk, doesn't work well for him yet. He seems to be doing everything early and I kinda wish he would stay a little baby a little longer. It's all going so fast

My baby has been crawling since 6 months then came standing along side the sofa next came moving from one end to the end of sofa but when she crawls her right leg always acts like it wants to stand up all the time while she crawl it doesn't hinder her from crawling but should I be concerned?

My baby started crawling at 5 months and now turned 6 months and is pulling herself up. She's moving way too fast.

My son is 8 mo. Old and gets around but isnt a full crawler yet and is already pulling himself up and standing as long as he's holding on to something. Is it possible that he'll start walking before completely crawling?

My son turned 6 months 6 days ago. He started crawling 2 weeks ago and is now pulling up to standing. I have a 2 yr old who walked at 9 months and is extremely active .... Was hoping this one would take his time but here we go!

It depends on the child. I had one daughter walking at 7 months,2 were walking at 9 months ,one at 10 months and one not untill she was 15 months! They all were drinking out of a cup between 7-9 months except one not untill she was 13 mo...they were all potty trained by a year old again except for the one who for the life of me did not potty train untill she was 16 months old! So it really does depend on the child! They all pulled themselves up a few days then they were off and running...I had 1 daughter that didn't even crawl she skipped it and was walking at 7 months...it was the weirdest thing ,the doctor said it was impossiable then she got up and walked over and grabbed the lollypop...he did apoligise.

my little boy will be 7 months in 3 days. Just a few days ago he started trying to pull himself up (not successful yet)... but he hasn't crawled yet. He just rolls back and forth to get where he wants to go. I'm definitely not one of those moms who is "worried" about development stages. I am curious what he will do first though.... crawl or stand up.

im so glad so many of you are also experiencing this! three weeks ago my baby started pulling himself on the couch. now its anything that he can get leverage on he uses it to try and stand. he also has started crawling on his feet sometimes (instead of on his knees, does that make sense?). i thought this was a little early - which it may still be - but at least hes not alone :o)

my boy is doing the same thing, but he also thinks he can walk and ends up on the floor alot. I think he wants to be like his big brother, but I'm scared that he will hurt himself.

My son was about 6 months when he started pulling himself up. He had been crawling since 2 1/2 months. It's exciting, yet scary, because he is so little! But you can't judge from other babies how soon your baby is ready to do something, you just have to pay attention to the signs your own child is giving. As soon as my son started pulling himself up, my husband & I started practicing with him, moving his legs and walking while we held his hand and soon he just let go and did it on his own!

I hope all of these babies that is doing so well could at least crawl for a day. It is not very good for there development to start walking before crawling...Apparently it has to do with the ability to do well in school someday...I do not know this for sure, coz my first born only went to school this year and my second is 7months. This is what my Doctor told me with the first born. AS I said I don't know how true this is.

This information is very outdated. Crawling is what is now known as an "optional milestone". It in no way measures a child's overall development. Previously it was thought that not crawling was responsible for delaying and sometimes reducing the effectiveness of children's fine and gross motor skills. However new research has dispelled this myth. While some pediatricians still disagree, the common thought among most is that it is not a necessary thing. As long as children are reaching all of their other developmental milestones, and are getting mobile in some form (bum shuffling, back creeping, rolling to reach objects, scuffling or like our babies walking) not crawling is not an issue. Below are some websites I found about crawling...

My son just turned 7 months and just started walking last week. He only takes about 3-4 steps before he falls, but he gets back up! I think it is because he is trying to catch up to his super fast sister!

My 7 month old daughter is pulling up too and when she pulls herself up she does it with one hand and sometimes lets go and stands for like a second or two. And she is cruising going from one couch to the next so I think within a month or two she will be walking :(

My baby is pulling up and if he lets go he can stand without touching anything for a few seconds before he drops to his bottom. This is my second baby and I am NOT pleased he is progressing so fast. I wish he would stay a baby a bit longer.

My daughter pulls herself up on everything and everyone; including our dog lol (we always supervise with the dog). She goes from her bottom, to her knees then to her feet. She can also balance with holding on with only one hand. I also believe withing the next month. It's scary to think before we know it our little ones will be up and walking.
