Can you make taco seasoning from scratch?

I've got a lot of the ingredients listed on the packages already, but want taco seasoning without the monosodium glutamate. Does anyone have a recipe or best guess or good place I should look for things like that.? If I have it premixed with instructions, my husband will actually cook dinner :).



Another recipe I'd like to have is the amounts/ratios for "pumpkin pie spices" and "sloppy joe mix".

I have used this allrecipes recipe before and it is good. I have to confess I haven't used it for seasoning taco meat though...

This comes from Allrecipes .com and for my family, we'd drop the added salt.



Taco seasoning mix:



1/4 cup dried minced onion (I would use onion powder)

1/4 cup chili powder (I'm not a fan of this, I'd probably omit it or use only 1 Tablespoon)

3 tablespoons salt (I'd omit) (I'd also add paprika- 3 Tablespoons)

4 teaspoons cornstarch

1 tablespoon dried minced garlic (I'd use powdered and double it)

1 tablespoon ground cumin (THIS spice is THE flavor of Mexico in Mexican cooking and I'd triple the amount)

1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes

2 teaspoons beef bouillon granules (I'd double since I nixed the salt)

1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano (I'd make that Tablespoons!)

ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS:

1 pound ground beef

1/3 cup water



Combine the first nine ingredients. Store in an airtight container in a cool dry place for up to 1 year. To prepare tacos: In a skillet, brown beef; drain. Add 2 tablespoons taco seasoning mix and water. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes.
