Hungarian Chicken Paprikash

-4 large chicken thighs (skin on)
-1 large yellow onion, medium diced
-1 large red pepper, medium diced
-1-2 medium tomatoes, roughly chopped
-1 tin tomato paste
-3-4 tbsp sweet or smoked paprika (or hungarian if can find)
-1/2 cup bread crumbs
-1 cup sour cream

Brown chicken thighs both sides. Add 1 can or 1.5 cups chicken stock to crockpot. Stir in tomato paste, paprika and vegetables. Add chicken and stir. Cook on low 3-4 hrs. Before serving, remove chicken and turn crockpot to high. When almost boiling, add bread crumbs and stir till mixed through then add sour cream stirring, add chicken back to pot, stir and serve. GREAT with sweet and regular potato mash, or rice. Meant to be served with spaetzel (Hungarian noodle/dumpling type thing) but I have no idea how to make!

French onion chicken and gravy.

-1 tin French Onion Soup (campbells)
-1 tin chicken gravy
-4-6 large chicken thighs/8 drumsticks
-2-3 medium tomatoes, roughly chopped
-1/2 cup breadcrumbs

Brown chicken. Add soup, gravy and tomatoes to crockpot. Add browned chicken and cook on low for 3-4 hrs. Just before serving add 1/2 cup breadcrumbs and stir in well on high temp till thickened. Serve with rice, mash (sweet and reg taters are our FAV!), or other side and steamed or boiled veg (top with extra gravy. For more chicken, add extra soup and gravy.

Beef stew (for 4)

-1 or 2 medium/large marinating steaks (they have more fat which breaks up &keeps meat tender), cubed
-1 tin tomato paste
-1 tin french onion soup (campbells)
-1 onion roughly chopped
-3-4 carrots, roughly chopped
-4 medium sized potatoes, small cubes
-bay leaf
-salt n pepper
-1/2 cup flour

Combine flour, salt and pepper (and any other seasonings you'd like, montreal steak spice works incredibly here) in large ziplock bag and add meat. Shake until all coated. Brown the meat to seal in flavour.
Add soup, tomato paste, and more seasonings to crockpot. Stir well. Add veg and bay leaf and stir. Add meat and cook on low 5-6 hrs. If gravy needs thickening add a few tbsps breadcrumbs (doesn't clump like flour, I swear by them!). Alternatively, instead of soup you could use 1 can/bottle of Guinness or other stout, but add water as well (about 1/2 cup).

Beef Stew
1lb ground beef
16ozs frozen mixed vegetables
2 jars or cans of beef gravy
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 can buttermilk biscuits
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Brown ground beef in skillet & drain
Add vegetables, beef gravy & seasonings to skillet
Bring to boil. Reduce heat & simmer covered for 10 minutes
Transfer beef mixture to a 3 quart casserole dish
Top with biscuits & bake 12-15 minutes until biscuits are golden brown

I use my crock pot all the time!

1 ckn breast per person(I usually cook about 4)
1 package fajita seasoning
1 8oz jar of salsa
cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 4.
serve as fajita meat, over rice (my fav). You can top with cheese and sour cream if desired.

Honey Mustard Chicken
4 chicken breasts (I cube mine)
1/2 c butter
1/2 c honey
1/4 c dijon mustard

cook on low 4-6 hours. Can also be done in the oven @350 for 1 hour.
serve with rice or potatoes.

Royal Round Steak
1 pkg stew meat
1 envelope liptons onion soup mix
1 can cream of mushroom soup
(to make it special add 1/2 cup of red wine 45 min before serving)
cook 6-8 hours on low. serve over egg noodles.

Pot Roast
1 rump roast
2 carrots sliced
1 medium onion
2 stalks of celery
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 pkg slow cooker pot roast seasoning
1 can of beef broth
1 TBS flour
2 TBS oil
lightly coat the roast in flour. heat oil in a large pan. brown roast on all sides. put into crock pot on top of veggies.
8-10 hours on low, 6-8 on high.
if you want to put potatoes in the crock pot you can also, I just like my pot roast with mashed potatoes.

google recipes using a slow cooker, taste of home has some great ones!

Taco Meat
1 lb xtra lean ground beef
2 tsp of chili powder
1 tsp of garlic powder
1 medium yellow onion

Assemble ingredients in slow cooker. Cook on low 6-8 hrs... proceed as usual with regular taco fixings... or a healthier option is using lettuce leaves instead of taco shells. Awesome!
