Loraine's Double Raisin Bread Pudding

6 Slices Cinnamon Swirl Raisin Bread cut in 3/4" cubes

1/2 Cup Sunmaid Raisins

2 Cup Milk

2 Large Eggs

1/4 Cup Sugar

2 tsp Vanilla

1/4 tsp Salt

1/4 tsp Nutmeg

1/4 tsp Cinnamon


Heat oven to 350 degrees (325 for glass dish) Butter a 1 quart baking dish. Combine bread cubes and raisins in backing dish. Combine milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg; blend well. Pour over bread and raisins. Let stand 5 minutes. Bake uncovered for 50 minutes or until knife inserted in cetner comes out clean. Serve warm or cool with ice cream or spirited sauce as directed below:

Spirited Sauce:

1-1/4 Cups Powdered Sugar

6 Tbsp Butter

1 Large Egg, beaten

1/4 Cup Dark Rum, Brandy or Apple Juice

In Saucepan, combine all sauce ingredients. Cook over low heat stirring constantly until thickened, about 3 minutes. Add sugar, continue to stir. Serve warm over warm or cool pudding.

Can you do it with regular white bread if you don't have cinnamin swirl bread my grandma who is deceased use to make this and it was soo good and when I was old enough to ask for the recipe she forgot? Thanks, Jenny
