Like a lot of you I have decided it's time to lose weight this year. I really didn't realize how much weight I had gained because I kept telling myself I was maintaining the same after baby weight .. not losing but not gaining. Well who was I kidding?? I finally came to the realization that I need to do something or my kids will end up doing the same thing... ANYWAYS... I used to be very skinny and could eat whatever I want... I've been teaching myself to cook as well and am open to a lot of ideas. I've switched to all whole grain no butter or mayo no sat. fat or trans fat i switched to soymilk and have been working out 30min atleast 3 times a week. I cannot afford a gym. So what my question is.... I am looking for work out ideas? Ive been trying to use the Fitness Channel and some of my own workouts. I am also looking for GOOD tasting Healthy Recipes... My husband is having a hard time with this transition I sprung on everyone... and I dont want him to dislike every dinner.... Sooo... please help me! Baked Fish Recipes would be GREAT since that is what I got in my freezer right now... or a healthy Pork Chop Recipe?? Lunch or Snack ideas? How do I get the kids to eat their veggies?? THANKS EVERYONE

Try "Eating Clean". There are a number of books by Tosca Reno about eating healthy and the good it does in your body and helps you loose weight. I started in an effort to loose weight (I am about 140lbs overweight). I feel great, the weight has been dropping off, the food is fantastic and I haven't found time in my life to work out yet! My husband has seen such a change that he is even going to start. You should check it out.

i love eatingwell.com for recipes. you can find all kinds of healthy new recipes or ways to make your favorites healthier. they also have a great online newsletter with recipe ideas. you can still make your family things like mac n cheese and pizza, but use whole grains and low fat cheeses and maybe try to sneak in some veggies. snack on fruits and veggies and add dips like hummus to make them more exciting. i'm also a big salsa fan because it is so healthy. a favorite snack in my house is string cheese. i buy low fat and my husband and daughter love it so much too that i can barely keep it in the house. pair it with some whole grain crackers for some added fiber. protein and fiber are king when trying to lose weight!

Also, plan out your meals and snacks ahead of time!!! When you know what you are eating all week you can be sure to have ingredients in the house and it keeps you on track. i post my meals for the week on my fridge so i don't slip up. If i don't have a meal plan i tend to grab whatever and it usually ends up being not so healthy. Good luck, it sounds like you are already right on track!

Trying to lose weight myself....certainly isn't easy. I agree with Charlene, the Wii Fit is great - you have alot of fun and don't realize you're really exercising. Also my daughter found www.exercisetv.tv. It has hundreds of exercises. I also recommend the Biggest Loser workouts and Tae Bo!!!

The only advice I can give you is what my "dietitian" cousin gave me... eat 5-6 portioned meals a day. That means... 5-9am - SNACK (anything healthy under 100 calories - example: 1 banana, or 1 apple, or 6 Triscuits 'reduced fat', 1 pink grapefruit, etc...) 11:00am - BREAKFAST (Example: 2-3 egg whites, tbsp salsa, 2 tbsp cheese 'reduced fat', 2 oz chicken, 1/2 or less avocado = Omelet) 1:00 - SNACK (1 orange, etc...) 3:00pm - LUNCH (Example: Lean Cuisine Meal, or Salad with fat free dressing 2 oz chicken, etc...) 5:00pm - SNACK (optional) 6-7pm - DINNER (Example: 4 oz chicken or fish or steak, side dish like 1 cup asparagus and 1/4 cup brown rice, etc...)

I drink 8 - 8 oz glasses of water a day.

I have a Myspace (http://www.myspace.com/geminigrl77) on my site is my "Diet Blog"... if you have a Myspace you can add me & see what I eat and I even list healthy low calorie delicious recipes. :D

Education in regards to nutrition and what your body needs is where it all really begins, Obesity in adults, our children, all have to do with the depletion of much needed nutrients our foods simply do not give us any longer. You do not necessarily need to be obese for your body to be starving of the essential things it needs. In fact many of those who think they are doing it all correct ,have in fact ,bodies starving for the proper nutrition. For over 30 years now, those who have gotten the correct information coming directly from our top scientist, nutritionalist and doctors, have become empowered with the knowledge that comes from such nutritional leaders as a noble prize winning doctor, had guidance and support to choose a plan that works, followed the plan, and realized a level of wellness they never imagined they could have. Testimonials include a person who had been suffering from lupis, was almost bedfast from disease complications, after becoming educated, starting their plan, in a matter of 6months, had no signs or effects from lupis, others with Diabetes, have been educated, chose a plan, followed their own endocrinologist guidance while on the plan and products, and amazingly, no longe needed insulin, eyesight improved, entire wellness level changed.
If you are really serious about losing, maintaining, or gaining, simply put want to be healthy and know your body is not nutritionally deprived; you owe it to yourself to check out www.ez2bfytonline.com

I take a complete food supplement that gives my body all the nutrition i need for the day. That takes away almost all of my cravings! I lost 10 lbs right away, and am no longer anemic, and more patient with my kids! I also started a workout from Mitch Gaylord, and he offers a wonderful meal plan and grocery list for 7 days for men and women. Build muscle while you eat less, and you burn MORE calories. I also have a great meal replacement product I use that is complete nutrition with lots of fiber to get my digestive track working great! If you can't eliminate waste properly you don't lose weight. Drink at least a gallon of water by dinner time, every day! I am losing a few pounds a week now, and getting lots of compliments and comments!
Find Melt if Off or Melt Away by Mitch Gaylord. Was only $30.00 for the workout, meal plan, weighted ball, and motivational CD. It's working for me! Be sure to supplement with good products so your body doesn't go into starvation mode!! Feel free to visit my website for info there. karenadamson.reliv.com.
Here's to you!

Hello,
This is Clara Colclasure-Garza and I live in Oklahoma, and like you decided to lose weight this year. I have tried lots of things thru the years, and end up back at square one. Like you I can not afford to visit the gym, and improvise as much as possible. What my family and I came across was this 30/30 weight loss challenge, Its a free online nutrition club, and they have this weight loss challenge, and give you lots of free information on why our entire country and even our children are all obese, they have a noble prize winning doctor on their side. and the information is totally awesome. here is the website www.ez2bfytonline.com You owe it to yourself just to check it out. The current weight loss challenge is soon to start. and only 20 participants can be in each one of the challenges. You not only will lose, but you could win $300.00 and you could lose 30lbs in 30days. Thanks Clara

You really do need breakfast! It's the most important meal of your day! There is a lot of science behind this fact which I don't want to bore you with. There is a book called "Eat this, not that" it's a book that doesn't tell you what to eat, it gives you healthier choices for things you crave (i.e. if you want a cheeseburger, it will give you the worst and best choices for that choice or for soda, etc, etc) It gives you nutritional information that is valuable. Portion control is your next most important key. Smaller portions (eat only until you no longer feel the hunger) will help reduce your stomach size and over time will eat an appropriate amount. Take this from someone who has needed to control their weight (due to personal choice) since 12 years old (and I'm now 23!!) If you have any more questions about this or anything I've said feel free to contact me I have a very close friend who is a nutritionist. I also have some recipes I can share with you as well :) my best friend and I want to eat healthier so we have a "girls cooking night" once every other Wednesday and they are FABULOUS recipes that are fairly inexpensive and quick!

My husband and I just use a simple salad mix package for marinating meet in a ziplock bag in the fridge, then we cook it in the Nu-wave oven! It not only goes much faster, but it tastes so much better! And no extra fat/oil is added! It is juicer than regular cooked and all the fat is dripping off! You can even cook your stuff right out of the freezer, which I done just recently we took out 4 pieces of chicken put some lemon juice over it with a little of Rosemarin, put 2 potatoes in and Vorla, the meal was done in 12min. The cost of the Nu-wave oven was $170USD, I had seen it last year on TV and talked to my husband as for getting it for our anniversary! He liked it and we got it and it is great! It cooks so much healthier and not only that..but fast!!! Check it out on line that's where we ordered it!

We use Olive oil and spices as a marinade for pork and chicken . Fat free is a great way to go and you still get flavors you love.

I agree with Natalie on the 30 minute shred video...it's wonderful and all you need is couple of hand weights and a mat maybe *i have carpet so i don't even need a mat* but ya!! It's a great video...send me a msg and i'll help you out with getting it! On top of that....doing things interactive with your child is great for bonding between mother and son/daughter. Leg lifts, situps, lunges, etc...carry your baby with you for extra weight and endurance. Best of luck!!

I have been having a hard time lately. I am 15 weeks and when I found out that I was pregnant I already thought I was about 5-7 lbs over weight and I am almost 10 lbs from there. I am not one of those people who can eat 2000 calories a day. When I was happy with my weight I ate a ton of veggies but I know that isn't everyone's cup of tea. The one thing that I put on EVERYTHING, because it adds so much flavor and NO calories is SALSA. I literally put it in eggs, chicken, salad, just about everything. You would really be surprised how flavorful it can be and yet so healthy. I hope that helps.

My third baby just turned 1 today. When my 2nd baby was only 7 mo old I found out I was pregnant with Derek. I had not lost the weight from my second pregnancy and then I just added weight from the third. I am now done nursing and am on my way to pre-pre pregnancy wight.lol My husband needs to lose weight also so we have been doing it together. Does your husband need to lose a couple of pounds? If not I am sure he can stand to eat healthier. We have been sooo surprised at how much we have enjoyed the food we have been cooking lately. Before we were eating cheeseburger rice drowned in BBQ sauce and between the two of us we could finish a whole pan; now one of our favorites is to throw a spaghetti squash in the oven at 350 for 1 hour , cook up as many veggies as we can think of with out olive oil, cook half a tube of ground turkey (way better than you think it would be), scrape out the squash, spoon veggies and turkey on top, and 1/2 a cup of spaghetti sauce over the whole thing. It is so satisfying; even whole wheat pasta is 180 cal per portion and for spaghetti squash 45 cal for a whole cup. I don't know that I well ever eat spaghetti noodles again and the same goes for my husband.
The things that we have found are foods that we will love to eat even after we have stopped loosing weight. We will always be on diets, but we can choose if it will be on a healthy or unhealthy diet. Good luck on your ventures. PS kids ate up the the meal without so much as a peep about all the veggies they were eating, onions peppers and all.

I drink a tall glass of water while I am cooking. This helps fill me up so I eat less. I also dip my fork into my salad dressing, I don't pour the dressing on my salads. I only use about 1/2 a tbl by doing it this way. All the little changes help. I have lost 23 pounds so far this year!

One of the biggest things that you can do is cut down your portion size at your meals eat off of a toddler size plate and don't get seconds. I have lost 15 pound since the beginning of the year. By eating one sweet a week small portions and 30 minutes exercise 3 times a week. Another thing is to stay active for 30 minutes after you eat whether it is doing the dishes or walking around the block. Also drink a glass of warm water before you eat it makes you feel full!

Baked fish can be prepared very simple. Drizzle with Olive Oil on each side and salt and pepper and fresh herbs. You can use one herb or a combination such as: cilantro, tarragon, parsley or chervile. Of course there is always dill. You may want to try one herb at a time, to see what flavor you like best. Cooking time will depend on the type and thickness of the fish. Sqeeze of fresh lemon over the fish before serving is great too. Serve with Brown or Wild rice and of course lots of veggies and/ or a salad.

Snack ideas: nuts, cheese and veggies (buy the pre cut ones) or a small cup of yogurt and keep lots of fresh fruit on hand, in a bowl, on the table where you can see it and grab it easily. Or for ease, buy the pre-cut fresh fruit in the grocery store to keep on hand. The easier it is for you, the more likely you will be to eat veggies and fruit... great weight loss friends. good luck to you (p.s. I'm in the same boat, still trying to loose baby weight).
