i am a new mom and wife and i have never really cooked, i can make a whole chicken and speghetti but thats it. please help me out and let me know of any good recipes you have that are farily cheep please. i also have a crockpot so if you have any recipes for that, that would be great. thanks

The crock pot is the best friend for the new mom. When baby has finally gone down for the night, you can prepare your meal, remove the crock pot insert and place it into the fridge waiting to cook in the morning.

Beef Pot Roast

Beef Pot Roast
Carrots
Potatoes
Onions
Celery
Beef Stock
Tomatoes
Salt & Pepper
Bay Leaf
Thyme

• Peel and cut your potatoes and carrots leaving them in large chunks
• Skin your onions and trim celery
• Finely chop tomatoes
• In a searing hot frying on the stove, brown all sides of the roast then place into the crock pot
• Add the vegetables, beef stock(enough to cover the meat and veg) , tomatoes, herbs and salt and pepper to taste.
• Cook on low setting in crock pot for 8 hours or on high setting for 4 hours

Pulled Pork Sandwiches

Pork Shoulder (Bone In or Boneless)
Favourite BBQ Sauce
White Hamburger Buns
Coleslaw

• Brown the pork shoulder on all sides in a searing hot pan on the stove then place into the crock pot
• Add enough BBQ to cover the pork shoulder and use a little bit of water to clean out the inside of the bottle and to thin out the sauce in the crock pot
• Cook for 4 hours on high setting or 8 on low setting.
• When done, remove shoulder from crock pot and using two forks, pull the meat to make small bite sized strands of pork then add back to the BBQ sauce.
• Coleslaw is easy to make, buy the pre-shredded cabbage with the pre-made salads in the grocery store. The dressing is made from 1 Part Apple Cider Vinegar, 2 Parts White Sugar, 3 Parts Mayonnaise and salt and pepper to taste. Pour over cabbage and let rest for several hours.
• Serve pork on buns with your coleslaw.

Sounds like me 5 short years ago. I now have tons of recipes up my sleeve. Give yourself time and don't be scared to try new recipes. You don't have to use them again if they don't turn out right. Also, don't be scared to alter recipes. Just relax and have fun!

Roast in Crock pot:
1 rump roast
1 can of golden mushroom soup (secret ingrediant...yummy)
sliced onion and bellpepper
salt and pepper
Dump it all in. Turn crockpot on for 8 hours. Serve over rice. Great as leftovers.

Lemon Chicken (the first thing I learned to make!!)
4 chicken breast (thawed)
3/4 cups of uncooked rice
1.5 cups chicken broth
2 tsp. lemon juice
1 tsp dill weed
4 lemon slices
salt, pepper and paprika

Comine rice, chicken broth, lemon juice and dill weed in a baking dish. Salt and pepper chicken and put on top of rice. Top each chicken with lemon and sprinkle with paprika. Cover with foil and backe at 350 for 1 hour.

Cauliflower soup (so easy)
1 pkg of frozen cauliflower
1 pkg of white gravy mix
1/2 cup of milk
grated cheddar cheese
salt and pepper

In pot cover cauliflower with water. Bring to boil. Add gravy mix and milk. Let simmer, stirry occasionally until slightly thicker. Add cheese and salt and pepper. Let simmer until cheese is melted.

This is great by itself or smothered on top of pork chops or chicken.

Pork chops and chicken breast tenderloins always taste great and are easy. Put a little oil in a skillet. When hot add diced onions. Salt and pepper meat. Put on skillet, turning occassionally until there is no pink.

Side veggie dishes:
- steam broccoli and put grated cheese on top (you can also boil broccoli then drain but steaming is healthier)
-cut sweet potatos into cubes then steam or boil. Stir in butter and small amount of brown sugar
-sautee diced onions in olive oil then add fresh green beans. salt and pepper

Here's a fabulous and easy recipe from The Pampered Chef



Zesty Ravioli Skillet

1/3 cup (75 mL) heavy whipping cream (I cheap out and use milk)

4 cups (1 L) loosely packed fresh baby spinach leaves

6 oz (175 g) provolone cheese, grated (or mozzarella)

1 tbsp (15 mL) olive oil

1 small jalapeño pepper, seeded

3 garlic cloves, pressed

2 cans (14.5 oz/398 mL each) diced tomatoes with onions, undrained

1/2 tsp (2 mL) salt

1/2 tsp (2 mL) coarsely ground black pepper

1 pkg (24 oz/700 g) small frozen cheese ravioli (about 65)





Measure cream using Easy Read Measuring Cup. Wash spinach in large Stainless Mesh Colander; drain. Grate cheese using Ultimate Mandoline fitted with grating blade. Set aside cream, spinach and cheese.



Add oil to (12-in./30-cm) Skillet; heat over medium-high heat 1-3 minutes or until shimmering. Finely chop jalapeño with Food Chopper. Add jalapeño to Skillet; cook and stir 1 minute or until crisp-tender. Press garlic into Skillet with Garlic Press; cook and stir 15-20 seconds or until fragrant.



Add tomatoes, salt and black pepper to Skillet; cook and stir with Bamboo Spatula 1-2 minutes or until simmering. Add ravioli; stir to coat. Cook, uncovered, 4-5 minutes or until tender. Stir cream into Skillet. Cook, uncovered, 1-2 minutes or until simmering. Sprinkle spinach over ravioli; cook, covered, 1 minute or until spinach starts to wilt.



Remove Skillet from heat. Top with cheese; cover Skillet and let stand 1-2 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Okay Sweetie I'm not much of a cook myself but I know a easy cheap recipe for Chicken Pot Pie. You need two cans of cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup. two cans of mixed vegies and two cans of cresent rolls and last but not least boneless skinless chicken breast.

Cook your chicken in skillet on stove like normal I put mine in a little water and on medium heat until done no pink. Cut your chicken in cubes when done.

Take a casserole dish or rectangle cake pan works too, and add your soup and veggies and chicken you can add extra soup if you like it more creamy. Mix it all up. Last take your Crescent rolls and cover the whole top or dish. Bake in over on 250 until crescent rolls are brown. Pretty easy and great comfort food plus makes for a nice gift for a sick friend new mommy whatever occasion. Hope you like it.
