It's called Layered dinner. You fry up your burger. Put it in the bottom of the pan. Put any kind of vejs. on top. Then you put mashed potatoes on top of that with a few slices of butter and salt and peper. Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. I bake a little longer because I like to brown the potatoes a little bit more. It's good, fast and easy. If you want you can even mix the burger with a creamed soup if you want. Hope you like it. Enjoy!

tacos are always a fav in my house, plus with the kids they can make it themselves and they love to use their hands...my nephew is a big fan, my daughter is only 6weeks old so we aren't quite there yet, lol.
also making homemade burgers is great fun with kids and you can do them so many different ways. my mother in law makes great burgers using dijon mustard, worshtishire sauce, garlic, ground pepper and serves them with sweet potato fries, delicious!

My mother came up with this for something different.

Rice special

1lb ground beef

1lb or pack of 5 sweet it. sausage

1 large jar spagettii sauce

1 pk sliced american cheese (yellow, white or we use both)

2 c. shredded motzzerella

2 c rice

Preheat oven to 350 .Cook rice acording to package. Remove casing from It. sausage and brown with beef. Once cooked through drain grease and add sauce. Once rice is done mix meaty sauce mix with the cooked rice. In a large glass bowl (what we use) or dish of your choice that this will fit into. Layer rice mix with american cheese. use your pref on how many layers to how much you like cheese, we do about 3 layers topping last layer of sliced cheese with remaining rice mix and top with motz. Bake till golden brown on top and enjoy! We searve with garlic bread or warm dinner rolls.

another good beef recipe that my family makes is Halopkies it is a Lithanian dish.

Ingredients

1 head of green cabbage

1/2 cup rice

1lb beef brown and drain

1 can of tomato soup or spagettie sauce

1 pk of bacon

1.first you will need to boil the cabbage leaves

2. boil the rice

3. roll your meat and rice together in a ball and put a couple of piece of bacon around the ball of meat and rice. Next wrap your ball of meat, rice and bacon with a cabbage leave.

4. Put the a small portion of the spagetti sauce/tomato soup into the bottom of a slow cooker. Next place your Halopkies (cabbage rolls) into the slow cooker and cover them with the rest of the tomato/spagetti sauce. You can cook on low for 8hrs or high for about 5 hrs.

The nice thing with this recipe is if you have any left over Halopkies freeze very while.

Butter Buds are an imitation butter flavored sprinkle (like Molly McButter). They are a great way to add butter flavor without a lot of calories. I like it in recipes but not on toast! Find it in the spice or diet isle. Dawn Hall, Author of Busy People's Cookbooks (all low fat & 7 or less ingredients) and host of Cooking for Busy People TV show on Dirct TV nationally. Hope this helps.

Hi Dawn, this is still a hamberger recipe but is different tasting, can be prepared in advance, great cold, can be frozen, and it is very economical.
500g mince
1 cup milk
1 packet chicken noodle soup mix
2 eggs
salt pepper
1 chopped onion
1 grated carrot
1 cup sr flour 1 cup of water
mix all together and let stand in fridge for 2-3 hours
place in spoonfulls (patty size) into an oiled pan
cook for 7 min & turn & cook for 5 min
These cook very quickly so you may need a timer.

Hamburger Gravy

Here’s an old-time favorite that many heart and waist conscious people probably thought they could never enjoy again.

2 teaspoons garlic salt (optional)

Dash of pepper (optional)

2 cups plus 1 cup skim milk

• Cook the beef until browned.

• Stir 2 cups of the milk into the seasoned beef.

• Mix the cornstarch and remaining 1 cup milk in a bowl, stirring until the cornstarch is completely dissolved.

• Add the cornstarch mixture to the beef, stirring constantly.

Have you tried a ground beef mash potato pie?

1 lbs ground beef, turkey, chicken or ham
1 medium onion chopped *
1 green pepper chopped *
4 garlic cloves chopped *
*you can either chop or combine and mince in food processor if your family does not like veggies.
1-2 Tbsps olive oil
1 small can tomato paste or 1 small can V-8 juice low sodium
Thick or cold mash potatoes (enough to cover bottom, sides and top of pie or cake pan)

Heat olive oil in frying pan (medium to medium-high heat), add onions, garlic and green peppers. Cook until onions are clear. Add ground beef and season to taste with salt & black pepper (you can also add spices like cumin, paprika, dry mustard). When ground beef cooked drain excess grease from frying pan. Add about 2-3 heaping table spoons into beef to blend well.

Spread mash potatoes in bottom and sides of pie or cake pan, add ground beef mixture to center of pan, then cover everything with the remaining mash potatoes.

Pre-heat oven at 400 degrees. Place pan in oven and bake until mash potatoes brown on top. Takes about 20-30 minutes, just watch to make sure you don’t burn the pie.

When done remove from oven, slice like a pie then serve. You may choose to let cool for approx 5 minutes before cutting.

**The cool thing is that when the ground beef is mixed with the mash potatoes and then baked it turns pinkish like ham.

*for an added twist you can add shredded cheese to the mash potatoes or top mash potatoes with cheese.

*** you can also use leftover mash potatoes and leftover ground beef if you want to make it quickly and then just bake until top browns.

We loved it as kids and my daughter gobbles it all up when I make it. Enjoy…

Here's one that's always a hit with my family. Super quick and really tasty.

Easy hamburger stroganoff

1 lb ground beef

1/2 onion sliced

1 can cream of mushroon soup

dried parsley

1 packet lipton onion suop mix

pepper

3/4 cup sour cream

1 1/4 cup milk

8 ox. sliced mushrooms

egg noodles

Brown ground beef, onion, parsley, mushrooms & pepper in fry pan. Add cream of mushroom, sour cream, soup mix and milk. Mix well, simmer on low for 10 mins. Serve over cooked egg noodles (it's a good idea to get the noodles going before you brown the beef).

I usually serve this with corn and rolls.

Manhandler Meatloaf- (from Busy People's Low-Fat Cookbook)
As one little girl once said after being questioned about the large amount she was eating, “I just can’t help myself, Aunt Dawn. It’s so good. I just can’t stop eating it.”

1 (6-ounce) box pork-flavored stuffing
1 (8-ounce) carton egg substitute (I use Egg Beaters.)
1 cup mild thick and chunky salsa
1/2 cup honey barbecue sauce
2 (14-ounce) packages fat-free smoked sausage
2 pounds ground eye of round beef or lean hamburger

Glaze (for 2 meatloaves):
1/4 cup grape jelly
1/2 cup honey barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons salsa

• Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
• With a blender grind the breadcrumbs of the stuffing mix for approximately 20 seconds until finely ground.
• In a large bowl combine the egg substitute, salsa, barbecue sauce, breadcrumbs, and the seasoning packet from the stuffing mix. Stir until well combined.
• Cut the sausage lengths into 1-inch pieces and grind in a blender until the sausage becomes “ground sausage.”
• Combine the sausage and eye of round with the egg mixture. Go ahead! Roll your sleeves up and dig right in. This Manhandler Meatloaf is easiest to combine together with your hands.
• To make the glaze, microwave the jelly for a few seconds to help the jelly dissolve. Mix together the jelly with the barbecue sauce and salsa until there are no chunks of jelly remaining. Choose a cooking method below to prepare the meatloaf.

Microwave:
• Mold half the meatloaf mixture into a ring with your hands and place it on a microwavable plate that has been sprayed with nonfat cooking spray.
• Microwave for 12 to 13 minutes in a carousel microwave.
• Let it stand for 3 to 4 minutes before serving.

Bake:
• Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
• Spray an 8 x 4 x 2-inch loaf pan with nonfat cooking spray and mold the meatloaf mixture into the prepared pan.
• Bake in the oven for 50 minutes.
• Spread the glaze over the meat and continue baking for an additional 10 minutes.

Slow Cooker:
• Form the meatloaf mixture into a round loaf and place in a slow cooker. (For an easy clean-up line the slow cooker with foil. Spray the foil with nonfat cooking spray before cooking.)
• Cook on low for 8 1/2 to 9 hours. Or cook on high for 4 hours.
• Put the glaze on the meatloaf after removing it from the slow cooker. Let the meatloaf sit for 3 to 4 minutes before serving.

Note: Remember this recipe makes two meatloaves. Make sure you divide the meatloaf and glaze into two portions. If desired cook one meatloaf and freeze the second to cook later.

Yield: 16 (4-ounce) servings

Quickie Meal
This meal reminds me of a hamburger helper, one-dish meal but made with rice. Great for on-the-run days when you need a quickie meal.

1 pound extra-lean ground beef
3 cups beef broth
1 (14 1/2-ounce) can diced tomatoes, roasted garlic flavor with onion and oregano
1 (4-ounce) can mushroom pieces and stems with juice
1 cup rice
Pepper

• Cook the hamburger (ground beef) with a little of the broth in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat until fully cooked.
• Remove the beef. Bring the broth, tomatoes, and mushrooms with juice to a boil. Add the rice. Stir well. Reduce the heat to a low boil, cover, and cook 10 minutes.
• Meanwhile crumble the cooked beef into tiny pieces. Stir them into the rice mixture.
• Cook another 5 minutes.
• Turn off the heat. Cover. Let simmer 2 to 3 minutes. Serve hot.
• If desired top with ground pepper and light soy sauce.

Yield: 5 servings

Preparation time: 5 minutes or less
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Total time: 25 minutes or less
