I'm having a really hard time finding recipes to make that don't have dairy in it. A burrito without cheese isn't my favorite! I love dairy...especially cheese, but my newborn that I breastfeed gets really colicy when I eat any dairy. I am really sick of oatmeal for breakfast, that's about all I eat for breakfast! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Not all breads you can buy at the store contain dairy. I know that there are a couple of whole wheat brands (Judy's at Wal-Mart, for one) that do not. I do find that Mexican (minus cheese) and Asian recipes are good ways to eat well without dairy. Breakfast is my hardest meal too. I have discovered that Multigrain Cheerios are filling and tasty, even without milk. I drink a lot of juice at breakfast. Also, it's possible to make French Toast with water instead of milk mixed with the egg. I hardly even noticed the difference. The same holds true when breading chicken. I use a lot of margarine in baked goods. I cannot afford rice or soy milk, so I can't say whether they are good substitutes.

I am also off of all dairy products! My favorite food is of course cheese, so this is NO FUN! I have used rice milk in recipes like pancakes and that has worked great. I cook a lot more stir frys and pasta dishes (with olive oil) than I did before. I've been eating breakfast burritos alot...use spicy hot sauce and I don't miss the cheese as much. I've also started eating more shrimp and fish since beef is no longer an option. Since I can't eat bread I eat tortillas or rice with almost everything!

I would also be open to any other suggestions. It is so easy to get stuck in the same old rut!

there are dairy alternatives, like soy or rice cheese, milk, butter. If you go to your local whole foods type market they can pave the way for you. Good luck.
