I've created a blog where I share the meals my family is having each week. I plan the meals ahead of time and take into consideration time, money, using leftovers, and health. You can take an idea/recipe or two for the week or plan out an entire menu for the week. Enjoy!!

Sandy,

That's great!! Your organization is right up my alley!! I'd so do the same thing. I'll have to check out the app.. Sounds like a great way to help me make my shopping trips quicker and easier. My son is making grocery shopping a challenge these days and anything I can do to speed it up would be fantastic. Thanks for sharing!! What a great idea!!

OK, I'm a total geek when it comes to grocery shopping. I have a list in Excel of everything that I ever buy. I went to Kroger and literally wrote down the aisle signs. By each item on my list I put the aisle that it's on. When I go to make my list, I search for the food, and put an x next to it. I then sort by the x column, then aisle. That puts all of my grocery list at the top of the page, sorted by aisle. I copy and paste it into a separate worksheet and print. It's really nice not to have to trek all over the grocery store for stuff. ALSO, there is an app for the itouch called shopper. It allows you to create a list, by aisle in several stores. You can also put coupons in it so that you never forget coupons. It's awesome!!

Heather - not sure why it isn't working for you. I've tried it the past few days and haven't had any problems. I guess I'd say just check to see that you are typing it in correctly. There is no www at the beginning. Maybe it's being challenging at times I'm not checking. I sure hope you can get to it. The honey-mustard ham steaks I put on this week are really good. :)

hello again kyle, in reply to your post about my wipe off planner idea........our supermarkets here in australia have a small aisle by aisle planner/map for eg: batteries aisle 5 and vitamins aisle 16 etc etc........so i just sat down one day and did a spreadsheet on the computer and listed everything in aisle 1, everything in aisle 2 etc etc. and if i dont have anything written down for that aisle i dont go down there and it really saves time.

the wipe off meal planner i have is actually 1 months worth of meals but i usually do two weeks worth. the website i got it from is an australian one....you should check it out......www.cheapskates.com.au

good luck with your blog and i hope this information helps you.

kind regards, karina..........australia.

this is awesome. I never plan when I go shopping, I buy things I know we eat but nothing that would be considered a complete meal. My plan for this year is to be more prepared when shopping so it doesn't cost so much. This blog will definitely help and give more ideas for recipes.
Thanks for posting this

Karina - those are great tips. I haven't tried the wipe off planner but I'm going to make one! Great idea! I often try to make my grocery list that follows the sections in the grocery store but aisle by aisle would be great too. How did you organize that? Do you have a list at home of each aisle at the store and then categorize from there? Any tips on how you do that would be great. I'm always trekking back across the store for one or two items I missed on my list!

as yet i havent had a chance to see your blog, but i also have a few tips for meal planning.

i printed my meal planner off and had it laminated at the copy shop so i can wipe it off and start again the next week (i was tired of having pieces of paper everywhere).

i also made a plan of my supermarket, aisle by aisle, and gee what a time saver.

hope this helps aswell.

it may sound time consuming to do all this but in the end it is a real time saver.
