Been there... Avocados work wonders, as does flax seed meal in pancakes. Quick recipe: 1/3 c whole wheat flour, 1/3 cup all purpose flour, 1/3 cup flax seed meal, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/4 tsp salt ... mix the dry stuff together ... combine 1 cup buttermilk, 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla and mix with dry, then cook on griddle. They keep in fridge or freezer and reheat like a dream. Unfortunately at that age, it could also be behavioral. I resisted Miralax for a long time, but finally gave in. I gave it to my girl (1/2 capful) daily for a month, then every other day for another month, then sporadically as needed to get her over the fear/pain/discomfort (or whatever!) of going. Solved the problem. Good luck!

Put about a cup of dried Sunsweet prunes in a microwave (1 quart) dish with 1/4 cup apple juice (or whatever juice he drinks). Microwave for about 3 minutes. Puree all that in a Magic Bullet or blender. Then mix with apple sauce (preferably Granny Smith). Prunes are a crazy good laxative but most kids won't eat them straight up.

Talk to his pediatrician about maybe using some of that Benefiber. It is a tasteless powder and you can stir it into sauces, drinks, whatever.

Good Luck!
