Sausage Pie

1lb ground sausage

2 pie crust ( pillsbury ready made)

1/2 tsp sage

1/8 tsp nutmeg

salt & pepper

1/2 c dried bread crumbs

1/4 diced onion



brown onion & sausage in skillet . Drain grease. Add: spices , dried bread , water to meat mixture . Cook 20 minutes or until thickened . Pour into unbaked pie crust , top with top crust . Bake for 15 - 20 minutes 400 . I use sliced potatoes in this recipe sometimes ... I layer some cooked potatoes on the meat mixture before topping with a crust . Or serve with fried potaoes and gravy.

Hi Catherine,

Your recipe says add water to meat mixture but doesn't say how much water. Could you let me know because the recipe sounds fabulous. Also, could you put cheese into the mix?
