Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake



Cake

1 package yellow cake mix

1 egg

8 TBS butter, melted



Filling:

1 8oz package of cream cheese

1 15oz can of pumpkin

3 eggs

1 TBS butter, melted

1 16oz box of powdered sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp nutmeg

1 tsp vanilla



Preheat oven to 350 degrees



Make cake first – combine all the ingredients and mix well with mixer – Pat mixture into the bottom of a lightly greased 13x9 baking pan



Prepare filling: in a large bowl, beat the cream cheese & pumpkin until smooth. Add the eggs, vanilla, and butter & beat together. Next, add the powdered sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and mix well. Spread pumpkin mixture over cake batter and bake for 40 to 50 minutes. Make sure not to over bake as the center should be a little gooey.



Serve with whipped cream



Variations:

Pineapple Gooey Cake: Instead of pumpkin – add a drained 20 oz can of crushed pineapple to the cream cheese filling.



Peanut butter Gooey Cake: Use chocolate cake mix. Add 1 cup creamy peanut butter to the cream cheese filling instead of the pumpkin.

Im confused, so the filling is actually a topping or does it seep down into the cake as it bakes? And I dont bake cake according to box? HELP! Sounds so good & i would ove to try it!
