My son has had 3 open heart surgeries and a stroke... they deal with a lot and don't always have a sense of control over all of the things that have happened to them... but they DO have control over their potty training... my son (4.5 years old) took a LONG time to train. However, he DID eventually train. He still has accidents when he is anxious about something but I think that's normal.

I tried all the tricks in the book... but the one that worked was a treasure bag in the bathroom with all different little rewards that he could 'choose'. It gave him some control back.

That all being said... heart failure also comes with mood swings and tiredness, lack of appetite etc... if you have real concerns you should see your cardiologist.
