I have a ton of purses...well that's an exaggeration, but I do have about 60.

My favorite combination is a clutch and a bucket bag. I put my essentials in the clutch, which comes everywhere with me. On days I need to carry more stuff, I toss the clutch into the bucket bag along with the day's extra needs, usually my nook, important papers, stuff of that sort that I don't really need all the time.

I have a medium sized purse. Never carried one at all until I had Rhiannon. My rule used to be that "if it can't fit in my pocket, it stays home". Then I had a baby. lol

I carry a hobo style purse. It's nice and big so I can throw lotsof stuff into it.

Right now I do the diaper bag/ purse thing. I guess it depends on what you need to put in it. I usually try to get away with as small as I can. Just big enough for the checkbook, my inhaler, some Chapstick, and some Tylenol. If you think you're going to end up carrying toys or something kid related you might want to go a little bigger.

I have a few different purses of all different sizes, somewhat a collection LOL. When I carried a diaper bag I used it as my purse. However, now that I no longer carry a diaper bag I decide on the size of the purse based on what I need to take with me. If my son is not coming with me I tend to grab the smaller purse that just fits my phone, wallet and keys. If my son is coming with me and it's a quick trip I grab a medium sized purse that I can stash his cup in and if we're doing a trip that's a couple hours or more I take the larger one *it can obtain suitcase status* that I can put my items in along with his cup , a little snack and a ziplock that contains a spare pair of his underwear (he's potty trained but it's still fairly new and sometimes dribbles in the unders but not enough to get his pants wet.). If you go for large, make sure that you have zipper pouches on the inside - I've discovered they are very helpful for not losing items in your purse because you can put your keys, phone and wallet in your little pouches for quick finding.
