Hi everyone! There isn't a forum for this and I hope it is appropriate to post here. My husband and I currently have legal guardianship of our nephew, B. We have had him since he was 2 months old and he is now 4. My sister, his mom, has been in and out of jail that whole time and saw him a little in between. She has now been out for 3 months and has an awesome man in her life and is living on her own, sober. We have allowed her to have him for short periods of time, but are feeling that it might be best to start transitioning into her having him back full time. Anyone ever experienced this? We don't know what we are doing, and we don't want to cause anymore damage to B, but we are ready to have our own life and family back too, and he wants to be with his mom. There are no services for this type of situation like there are for foster kids transitioning back to their home. Any thoughts or ideas on how we can do this smoothly and keep the peace between us and my sister? It has gotten tense a couple of times. Thank you all!
