i taught my son to wipe his own butt when we started potty training. once he was out of dipers i never wiped him again, i let him do it and i would check. that was when he was two. moms: they wont do it if you do it for them!

My son has been wipping since he was three but we had a period of time just this past year when he wouldn't clean himself up at school and will wear the underpants and not say anything to anyone. when he changes his clothes I asked why his underpants are dirty and he told me that he didn't clean. We had to talk to him several times about hygiene and why he should clean and I think he is getting it now. Recently we didn't have any problems. He uses flushable wetwipes and we told him he needs to clean with a new wetwipe until they stay white after clearning himself. Hopefully he wouldn't do it again.

My son has been wiping since he was three. Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones! lol I know my three 1/2 year old has also been wiping since he was 3ish. He still has problems being thorough. Even my two 1/2 year old wants to get in on the cleaning herself game when we are changing her diaper. Not sure what I did to get them on this path but I am thankful!

I am definitely with you on this one, I can't get my son to wipe his butt either. He doesn't want to get poop on his hands. Even mentioning that he should try and wipe himself turns into a huge tantrum. I've tried to give a reward if he tries, I've tried to explain that when he is at school he will have to do it himself, nothing works. Any ideas, please, Im desperate.
