Another mom who needs advice on potty training...

I got my son a potty chair at 18months of age in hopes that he might be mostly trained by the time I had my second son this January. I know I was being optimistic. Since starting he has done really well as far as going #2 on the potty, but not #1. He has said he needed to use the potty and only done #1 a few times so I think he gets the sensation to go. My problem is that I tried training pants a few days and unless I take him to the bathroom every 20-30 minutes he'll just go on himself. My mom says I should keep putting him in the training pants and continue to take him to the bathroom all day but it seems to me that I am just forcing something that is not ready to happen yet. Anyone have any thoughts/suggestions??

my daughter is 2n half and i found u can't really force this she has only just taken to the potty although we got her the potty at around the same time as u have she went a couple of times, now we just make such a big hype of how well she is doing big big praise makes them feel good and makes them want to use it again, although she hasn't quite grasped the concept of pulling her knickers down yet. I have found most people try to potty train at that age then give up till they are really ready every child is different tho good luck with it x
