I am 25wks pregnant with my 2nd baby and I have a 2yr old son. I had SUCH an easy pregnancy with my son, only a little problem at the very end with preeclampsia and a lot of weight gain that turned out to be an undiagnosed thyroid problem =( but this pregnancy is so different! I recently have been getting really bad pains every time I walk, it feels like I pulled my vagina muscles or something lol and if I stand up for a little while my whole lower stomach just hurts. I have also been feeling like I have been having some minor contractions in the evenings. They told me at my last ultrasound that she is really low so I don't know if that is normal or what, but it is really starting to freak me out and my dr. all but rolls her eyes everytime I ask her a question because she is always in such a hurry to get to her next patient, so I want to know, does anyone have any thoughts or insight to what I'm experiencing? I would really appreciate it!
Thanks,
Paige

go speak to your midwife or doctor, it could be SPD (symphysis pubic disorder (babys putting too much weight on your hips)) i had it while pregnant with my son and couldnt walk and most days struggled to get myself dressed or out of bed!! try and get yourself a bump support, it might help a bit

I am going through a similar thing. I went to the woman's center (where I will deliver) to get monitored, and they basically said "well, you're not in labor so go home". I felt like, well duh, I know I'm not in labor. But I think like you said, if your baby is low then it might be pushing on something that your first baby never did. My son was breach, so his butt was pushing on everything, but my daughter (this pregnancy) might be head down and so her skull is rubbing/pushing on stuff.

the other thing is you have another child, so taking care of that kid is stressful on your body. I know I am feeling it too.

Lastly, it could be a UTI, so ask your dr to run a urine test at your next appointment.

Other then that, it is probably just growing/stretching pains. I don't think there is anything they can do. But know that you're not alone! I feel your pain. Literally!

I am having different pains with this baby too (my son is 2 1/2). After reading some posts on babycenter and talking with my doc we think I have what they are calling Pubic Symphosis Disorder (or something like that). It's a really bad pain in the pubic bone area - I usually get it after getting up in the morning or after standing up if i've been sitting for a long time. It radiates into the thighs too. Not sure if this is the same pain you have. I also get round ligament pains that feel like a pulled muscle if i move too suddenly, as well as sciatic nerve pain. My doc said you can do pain management with meds, but it's best to avoid that if possible and just try to do stretches and exercises for it. Isn't pregnancy just lovely ;) I hope you are able to find a doc that respects your questions and helps you out better!

I agree, even if your doctor was right , you need to feel comfortable enough to ask any question how ever many times you like even if you get the exact same answer and you shouldnt have to feel bad about it. Get a new doctor. Keep telling yourself "I deserve better".

First off i say get a new doctor, YOU and that baby are Just as important as any other patient! That makes me so mad, I feel so bad for you! Second off, I've been reading the what to expect when you're expecting book and having some cramps and pain too. cramping and pain is normal, the doctor told me that during this point in the pregnancy the uterus is moving up, making more room for baby, and when that happens the little muscles, or nerves that are holding it pull and twist and that makes pinches and other cramps that can hurt bad. And also I've had problems with gas my whole life and when you're pregnant you can increase your gas production, which can bubble up if pains in my lower pelvic area or back are usually gas bubbles... try to walk that usually makes me pass 'em. My son is 18 months and this one is much harder on me too, but I have a good doctor to talk to. You really need to switch. You need to know that your doctor is going to be there for you and listen to you, Nobody knows your body better than you and if something is abnormal she needs to be taking you seriously. Yes there are always lots of questions (that's normal) even with a second pregnancy... no two pregnancies are EVER the same. Chin up lady, I'm sure if you find a new OB/GYN and they'll answer your questions and you'll feel 100% better

drink tons and tons of water! that is the only thing that helped me. I felt like a fish tank i drank so much... but it did help! My goal was a gallon a day.

Thank yall!! Yes I have had a constant UTI and yeast infections since I found out I was pregnant in July. I haven't been experiencing any of the symptoms that go along with that but that's what they keep telling me, and nothing the dr gives me does anything for it! Hopefully when I deliver they will GO AWAY!! But it really makes me feel better to know that other people are experiencing the pains too, just so I know they are normal lol

i would certain have them check for a UTI or Kidney Stones... i had both with my first pregnancy and they caused horrible stabbing pains.

Hi Paige! I have been feeling some pulling and pain in the groin area and also the sides of my lower abdomen. I was told that it was just round ligament pain (basically "growing pains" during pregnancy). It hurts like heck sometimes, especially if I make any sudden changes in position. I hope you feel better :)

My first pregnancy was a nightmare, I had complications galore and I couldnt wait to get it over with. This pregnancy doesnt have the complications but it is much harder on me physically!
I experience the same pains you are describing, stabbing pains in my lower belly, my privates, I feel contractions sometimes too. I talked to my Doctor, who is fortunately awesome, and she said to expect more pain than with my first, since I have a 14 month old and am much more active than I was before, and also that Im lifting and carrying her so things are stretching and being pulled. My doctor is really reassuring, and is very thorough. I was having bad pains and I told her and she checked me for a UTI- which are common during pregnancy. They caused sharp pains in my abdomen, but I didnt feel anything else.
The doctor I had for my daughter was similar to what you are describing, she was ALWAYS really late, and seemed rushed, and toward the end of my pregnancy told me they were too busy for me to have my daughter as planned, and I had to wait over 2 weeks before they were willing to induce (the story is long, but I was supposed to have her at 38 week due to a complication). I decided with my 2nd to find a new doctor, I did a ton of research and I am so glad I did. I am so much happier with my doctor now. If you dont feel taken care of now it will put stress you dont need on your whole pregnancy.

Good luck!
