11 months and still eating baby cereal.

[deleted account] ( 12 moms have responded )

My daughter will be a year old at the end of May and she still like to eat infant cereal. Has anyone cut out baby cereal yet? If you do what else do you give them for breakfast type meal? Also...has anyone started to transition to whole milk yet?

Mine will be 1 On the 16th, and she would only eat cereal for the longest time, and still loves it...

from my understanding the baby cereal is good for them and I still feed my 11 month old rice and oatmeal. I mix them with jared fruit just to change the flavor.

My son will be one on the 4 May.
I gave it up ages ago . When he was 9 months I think.
He now has weetbix with hot water and milk. He didn't like it too much at the start. Also he like to have a peice of toast with marmite or jam. He loves to feed himself .

My son still prefers his Gerber Organic Oatmeal in the mornings. I'll put fruit in it these days. But, I've tried eggs, pancakes, etc. And his favorite is the cereal.

My baby girl was a preemie, so I'm taking all the food additions and transitions a little slower. She has no teeth yet, so we're introducing some table foods, but only the soft ones. She's eating the Gerber puffs even though she has a hard time with putting them in her mouth herself.
However, she still eats baby cereal and the 2nd foods (moving to 3rds VERY soon, though), and is still on formula. I just took her off the preemie formula at nearly 10 months (recommended), and I plan to keep her drinking regular formula until at least 15 months. As for the baby cereal, it's actually cheaper per ounce than grits, regular oatmeal, or creamed wheat, so I find no reason to switch yet!
P.S. Kerri, thanks for the grits idea...I love them, and it's more excuse for me to make them more often!

My daughter will be 1 May 25 th and she still loves it, I mix it with diffrent fruit too. It's really healthy for them so I dont think you need to cut it out. :)

I never really knew baby cereal was something that had to be "cut out" ... my daughter is still eating it. We mix it in with tons of different foods too and she loves it! But instead of baby cereal we sometimes give her rice crispies, cream of wheat, fruit, toast, cheerios, or something of the sort for breakfast... and also she has started drinking whole milk and has taken to it great! She has about 4-5 oz every day now.

My son will be a year May 19th. and he has been eating regular grits and oatmeal for months now. And we just started putting a few ounces of whole milk into his last bottle at night!
