Help , My son will be a year on May 30th. He has this bad cough at night and during the day. Our Ped says it only a cold just wait it go away. We waited a couple more days and on Mothers day I took him to the Er because in My gut it does not sound just The ER doctor says he has an Ear infection and gave him antibotic. They said his lungs are clear but I hear raspy in his chest. I have this gut feeling but the doctors wont listen to me . What should I do? My son is very active but just has this cough. It is really weird. He cant even drink his bottle with out coughing after word. I am probally just overacting.

It could just be allergies and he is coughing from nasal drainage. You can always take him to another Dr. for a second opinion. If you think something is wrong, explore all your options and don't settle for an answer just for the sake of it.

If it's just a regular cough your little one should be fine like the doctors said. When my daughter was around 10 or 11 months (now 2) she had an extremely bad cough it kept her up all night long and it sounded like a smokers cough that really bad horse cough so I took her in and she ended up having croup. Depending on the type of cough your the mom but if it's horsey and keeping your little one awake i would get a second opinion. My son is 1 now teething, cutting 3 at once and has the entire spectrum of teething conditions but for me if the cough gets any worse than it is now he's going to the doctors.

My daughter just got over a nasty cold. She coughed like crazy for 2 weeks! I gave her a little bit of honey once a day for a couple days and it really helped. I've read that honey is the best thing for a cough. I also ran a humidifier and used baby vicks. Teething can also be the cause of a cough. They have a lot of extra saliva and can gag on it. My daughter's feeling great now, but it was a rough couple of weeks! We celebrated her 1st birthday yesterday!

My son coughs a lot....doc said it is allergies. sometimes I am afraid his lungs are going to come up! But the doc said right now nothing can be done for his allergies. He just coughs some days worse and has the snuffles.

My son had a cough with a cold once that worried me senseless. Its probably either drainage or the air in the house may be too warm. Alot of moms are tempted to keep the house warm when their babies have colds, but it only drys their throats. Keep the house alittle cooler. This isn't advised by a doc but i was told off the record by one that you can give him a dose of children cough suppressant, BUT use the tylenol infant dropper instead of the cup that comes with the childrens cough suppressant. Give the same amount of children's suppressant as you would give the tylenol infant drops. For example if you would give .8 ml of infant drops to your baby, give .8 drops of the children's cough suppressant. Again peds won't tell you to do it professionally, but my mom is a nurse and a ped told her off the record to do that for my son.
