non milk based formula to milk based formula?

my daughter was not able to tolerate milk based formula at birth, so we put her on soy and she does great with that, but I am wondering when is it ok to try to ease her onto a milk based formula? I wondered about doing a fifty fifty of the soy and a gentle milk based formula. just want other moms opinions....has anyone else dealt with this?

I just talked to my daughters pediatrician because I am going through this with my 7 month old. I was told to do one scoop of milk based formula to the 3 scoops of soy based for 1 week, the next week you add another scoop of milk based, the 3rd week, 3 scoops milk based to 1 scoop soy.

Hi, my son is also lactose intollerant, as am I. I have tried to put a small amount of delac, lactose free formula in with his soy but he started to get eczma again, he is 7 months old. so I will wait for a couple of months more and try again. He may just have to stay on soy for a long time.

I put my son on Enfamil's Nutrimigen... it is a milk based formula but the protein is broken down. After a day's feedings he was a completely different child. He went from colic, screaming constantly, to smiling and giggling.

My sister put her son on soy as an infant and eventually wound up giving him regular milk when he turned a year. Sometimes it just takes some kids a bit longer to develop the right chemitsry in their tummies to digest the proteins in certain foods.

My sister went through this with her son. She actually didn't try milk based anything until he was a year old. He handled it fine after that. Now her second son was totally different. He could drink milk based untill he was 9 months and now he is lactose intollerant. Every baby is different. I would talk to your doctor.

I am having the same problem as you. I was told to try after 6 months. Just try one or even half bottle see how she does give her couple days just like you would with a new food. You should knw if she can handle it pretty fast, she will let you know. I probably wouldn't mix the formulas that cold possibly cause other tummy upset.
