Hi Everyone...my little one has been using a sippy cup for about 2 months now. I just give her a little water at night. She uses it well but doesn't get much practice. I know you are supposed to transition from a bottle to cup around 12 mos (May for me)...some things I am reading say you can put formula in a cup earlier? Is anyone doing this? I was planning to stick to bottles (she gets 4 a day) until a year. The transition though may be tough as she will be going from bottle/formula to sippy cup/milk. What do you guys think? I have heard of some doing a slow transition...replacing the middle two bottles with a sippy. I dunno...it's so confusing and I just want to make sure it's okay to wait

Hi, My daughter has been using a sippy cup since she was 3 months old, she still has her bottles of milk but uses her cup for water. She can go from either without any problems. The only reason i still use the bottle for milk is that it holds more than what the cup does.

Hi Michelle,
I think you are right in that sippy cups are supposed to be introduced at 6-8 mos. I just don't know when to start transitioning from bottled formula to sippy with milk. I think I am going to wait til she's around a year. It's just a lot of changes at once that I am worried about. I haven't given her juice yet...my pediatrician said to wait until 9mos. Thanks for your help :)

I breastfeed but I have been giving him a sippy cup since 4 months old. He has refused every bottle I have ever given him. He takes breastmilk from the sippy cup just fine. Are you giving your baby juice? You never want to give a baby juice in a bottle only a sippy cup. I don't give my baby juice but he drinks water out of the sippy cup just fine. I would think it would be fine to give a baby formula out of a sippy cup. I don't see how it would hurt anything. I thought sippy cups were supposed to be introduced at 6 months not 1 year.
