Sippy Cup

[deleted account] ( 16 moms have responded )

My daughter is 9 months old but she refuses to drink formula from the sippy cup. SHe likes to play with whenever I give her the sippy cup. Is she not ready or am I not trying hard?

it just depends on the baby i think. as long as she is off of it by a year she should be ok. mine has been on a sippy since 6 1/2 months. she uses the munchkin sippies. not the ones that say no spill though. they have handles on both sides and come in bright colors with different colored lids.

My son is 9 mo old and has no desire to drink from cup. He does not even want to hold his bottle yet. He is more than content to let me hold it. I just keep trying.

i started giving my son a sippy at 6 or 7 months because i found the soft nipple cups which he loves it was easy for him to drink from the soft nipple and he has every since. i started with the formula and he still drinks from them with no problem he won't take a bottle any more i have no problem with him drinking anything from it. it the new nuk cups them start with the small 5 oz and the go up to a 10 oz cup with no handles Ace loves them all.

I got the Nuby sippy cup. Diya just chews the straw otherwise bangs the cup against the wall or her high chair. If she is fed up she drops it on my toes!! It really hurt me .... I am going to keep trying (give her the sippy cup after every meal)

i have a nuk sippy cup, that has the magic no drip,. my daughter seems to play with it when i put anything in it. Juice, or formula. but she has taken a few sips from it, not a great amount, but im hoping she will get the hang of it before long. shes nearly 10months old now.

Gabby does the same thing. She just chews on it and thinks it the best toy ever. I figure she'll get there eventually, at her own pace. We tried the NUK straw cup and she just chewed on that too :)

We started with the Munchkin Mighty Grip straw cup b/c they have a real soft straw and don't spill as easy. They make teaching a child how to use a straw easy, b/c you can lay them down and give it to them like a bottle (it won't just run out) for a couple seconds, wait until they suck, and then sit them up. The nuby straw cups are pretty good too.

We just use a plastic cup with a bendy straw! Nothing fancy! I know they sell cups with lids and straws at Target/Wal-Mart. They are next to the sippy cups.

We tried sippy cups with juice, and our daughter wasn't very interested. We were out to eat one night, and tried just a cup with a straw, and she caught on right away! That's how she drinks juice/water now. Cup with a straw. You might want to try it.

I am using NUK sippy cups. She drinks formula from Playtex bottles. Which brand would you reccomend?

yeah, i also gave my son juice in his sippy cup first. i actually just started putting formula in the cup the other day, and he wouldn't drink it either at first. until i held it for him and let him taste that it was milk. then he drank it with no problem. also, try a few different types of cups and find one that she likes to use.

i started giving my daughter juice in the sippy cup first that way she would get the hang of it before i started formula and that worked for her
