I tried to introduce the sippy cup many times from 5 months on. He was taking it a little at first, but then he discovered that mommy and daddy drink from a different type of cup. Now he only wants to drink from regular cups. It's a bit messier, but it works. It just takes more time and effort to get him to drink.

Raigen has been trying to use a sippy for about a month now. She doesn't like it. I am using a Nuby right now, but maybe i'll try one of the Nuk cups that were mentioned. Sounds like she should be pretty good at a sippy by now... Oops.

I started the sippie shortly after solid foods and only at meal times while he was in the highchair (about 6 mos.)......by 7 mos. he thought he was champion of the cup!

My doctor told me to introduce the sippy cup at 6 months but I introduced at 5months. He didn't understand the concept of having to tip it back so He drinks from a toddlers straw cup (found out he knew how to use a straw when he got a hold of my cup at the theaters last week). If your baby is on solid foods I would introduce the sippy cup so they dont get constipated

My son is almost 8 months old, I started him on the nubt spill proof sippy cup at six months. It has a very soft but tough spout, its shaped like a bowling pin. So its easy for him to hold. He drinks mostly water from it and teethes on it. I pust milk in it, but sometimes when i go to give hime milk in a bottle he reaches for the nuby and is just thirsty. He took to it really well, it was the second one we tried, he hated the first one. This one was a mutual agreement :) hope this helps. ( costs about 2-3 bucks)

I started at about 6 1/2 months but my baby used to choke on the liquid everytime. Now she is 8 months and doesn't choke so much, but spills most of the liquid out. Not getting too much in her mouth but I do hear her swallowing from time to time.

My son started drinking from a straw sippy cup at 5 months. He rarely drinks from a bottle. So I say if your child is ready then go ahead and introduce a sippy cup. Hope this helps :)

Quoting Susan:

Around 7 months, I am a feeding therapist as well as a mom. A great starter cup is the Nuk infant trainer cup comes in red, blue and green it has a soft spout its spill proof but doesn't have a a stopper and it is a little longer than some of the others a great transition cup.

Love that NUK cup too.

I introduced the sippy cup when Lucia started eating cereal at 4 months. Now she is 89 months and she drinks from sippy cups like a pro. She got a new sippy cup with a straw for Christmans....she is learning to suck from the straw now!

I introduced the sippy cup to my daughter at 6 months, she liked it for a while. Now at 7 months, she sometimes doesn't want it. She plays with it tossing it around and teethes on the mouth piece. She gets annoyed that the juice doesn't come out fast like her bottle. But it's a work in progress..lol

My little one - 7 months and 2weeks already drinks from a sippycup. He doesn't like a bottle that much - a real breast baby ;)
