weight loss after baby

[deleted account] ( 11 moms have responded )

Okay so heres my question. When i was pregnant with my son (hes 20 months now) I gained 50 pounds! I didn't lose all of the baby weight till he was 10 months old. I was just wondering to all of you second or third or so on moms how much weight you lost after having your baby and how much you lost about a month or so after having your baby? I am wondering this because I have talked to so many women who lost almost all of their baby weight in the first month!! anyone else know someone that did this? Also, i have gained 45 pounds this pregnancy so far...AGAIN.... and i am hoping this time to lose it faster then 10 months!

Keep on drinking mummy magic weight-loss tea and hope you'll get your goal within two months.

I lost the weight I gained with my daughter and then some. I breast fed for 15 months or so. But I slowly gained it all back.

With this baby, I have gained about 20 pounds and the DR figures he's going to be about 8.... plus all the other stuff that goes along with baby.

It depends on your body. Don't go on anybody elses body type but yours. Factors include breastfeeding and diet, exercise. etc.... If you breastfeed you burn so many more calories. But, on that you also hold those lasft few pounds longer untill your done nursing. Your body has a way of storing what it needs for the baby still, almost like still being pregnant. your feeding for two. I'm pregnant with my 3rd and I was different after each child. I lost weight faster after my 1st but I didn't nurse and I was young. I actually went down 2 sizes after the first year with him. With my 2nd, I tried nursing and I lost a good amount of wieght fast, but held on to 10 or 15 lbs untill after I stopped nursing. Then I am about the same maybe 5 lbs more than I started with after the 2nd pregnancy. With my 3rd, I didn't gain as much weight, I'm older so I don't know how I will react to this pregnancy. I do know that chasing around a 2 yr old and dealing with the joys of a pre-teen child, I hope I bouce back fast!

with my daughter, I gained about 20 lbs but then lost it all withing the first few weeks...unfortunately, at that point I decided to go on the pill- which I will never do again! I gained 40 pounds on it! Then I went off of it and it took me a year to get pregnant this time (my daughter is three) and I had tried that entire time to lose some of the weight, with no luck! When I finally got pregnant, the weight started melting off- I am convinced that it was hormonal! (thus the NEVER AGAIN!) I have gained for sure three pounds this pregnancy- that's it...although last week I had gained seven more pounds just in a week, but we're pretty positive that's due to the high BP and is all water weight. So maybe I'm at a total gain of 5 pounds? something like that. Anyhow, I'm excited to have this baby, and I'm hoping that with breastfeeding, I'll lose even more this time around. I only made it 2 months breastfeeding my daughter, though, so I'm not sure how much weight to expect to lose this time. :) Good luck!

Do you breastfeed? With my first, the weight practically fell off and all I had to do was sit there and feed my child. It burns 500 calories a day!

I'm just 2 weeks off a C-section with my first, and I've already lost the baby weight.  However, I never gained much weight (only about 20 pounds total, most of which was baby and baby acoutrement), and I had severe preeclampsia, so for several days I didn't eat while in the hospital and on magnesium, because it made me really ill.

I have 2 children... 3rd one arriving in 4 weeks.  My first 2 children are 15 1/2 months apart.  I did not ever lose all of the baby weight... kept 5 pounds with each pregnancy :(  I gained about 45 pounds with my first and about 40 pounds with my second.  I am thinking it'll be about 35-40 pounds with my third.  My delivery weight is usually about 175.  The first 25-30 pounds usually came off in the first 3-4 months.  I usually need to wor to get the last 10-15 pounds to disappear.

I have had c-sections with all of my children.  And, I have also breastfed all of my children as well.  I was always concerned about milk supply with my first, so I was hesitant to cut calories.  My milk supply was sufficient with my second, but it was just a little more difficult to lose the baby weight with the second as well.  I am definitely hoping to get down to the pre-pregnancy weight of 130 after this baby.  I know that I will definitely have to work at losing the weight though.
