Any lunch ideas?

Now that my son is eating mostly solids I would love some lunch ideas!

Here are Samantha's Favorite lunches. She is not a picky eater and eats food like a champ.

we do very small cubes of cheese and fruit and crackers

cottage cheese with some kind of fruit mixed in(I found slightly over ripe plums that just melt in her mouth, or bananas),

sandwiches (grilled cheese, pb&j)

pasta with a bit of butter or just plain mixed with veggies such as peas, very well cooked carrots, roasted sweet potatoes, and a cubed up hard boiled egg (sounds like a strange combo but she really likes is)

String cheese stick, crackers and fruit

Mini pizzas made with canned biscuits flattened out thin, pizza sauce and cheese.

Yogurt, with fruit, avocado or sweet potato cubes

cheese quesadillas with avocado cubes

ANY kind of homemade soup, especially anything with beans and pasta in it. Her favorite is tortellini white bean soup. I go very easy on the onion for her but it is a good one for the whole family.

She likes pasta like cheese tortellini and ravioli. I don't sauce them yet. I do over cook them a bit so they are extra soft.

Hope some of that helps. We try to do at least 3 food groups and then she has milk after her meal if she wants it. She drinks water with her food.

Oh! I love these ideas! I'm a single mom working and going to school, so it's hard for me to get creative with food ideas like this. This post was so helpful! Plus my son has become a bit of a picky eater, yet he still surprises me when he accepts a new food.

my son (16 months) really loves jam or cream cheese sandwiches, or grilled cheese sandwiches, usually cut into small squares, but he is starting to be able to handle bigger pieces. he also likes pasta (with white sauce, since he is allergic to tomoatoes), or cut up cubes of ham cheese and peas

These are great ideas! I usually just convert whatever meal we are having into small pieces and make sure it's soft enough for her to eat. Everything from cereal to pizza, chicken nuggets, even roast... I just make it tiny pieces that she could swallow whole after she chews on them for awhile. But I love these ideas, and going to use some of them!

I want to add that we still do "baby food" once a day, usually for breakfast. She eats some kind of mashed fruit, with baby oatmeal and yogurt all mixed together. She feeds herself with a spoon pretty well, I do still help her some though.

Deli turkey, shredded cheese (fun to pick up and reinforces fine motor) and fruit (my daughter loves blueberries)

Grilled cheese and peaches

Leftovers from the night before - grilled chicken, veggies, rice

Pasta, steamed broccoli, whole wheat toast with butter

Frozen turkey meatballs with pasta sauce, steamed carrots, whole wheat roll

Fruit salad, cheese stick cut up into cubes, graham crackers

English muffin pizza, applesauce
