Can't get 9 month old to hold his own bottle or sippy cup? Any suggestions?

I have a stubborn 9 month old who bats my hands out of the way when i try to get him to hold his own bottle. He can hold everything else with two hands, but this he refuses. In all serious i dont TOTALLY mind him not holding the bottle since feeding time is still our cuddle time and we get to sit together all cozy and warm. But eventually he will need to be able to feed himself his bottle. Any tips?

My son was 9 months yesterday and the only one that worked for us, surprisingly, was the cup with the straw. Since he doesn't have to tip it up to his mouth. He's been drinking from it for about 2 months and loves it. Might be worth a try!

My little one is 9 months old as well and is totally capable of holding her own bottle but most of the time she also refuses. She will hold her sippy cup with no issue. I think it's just her holding on to that bonding time so I don't push it at all. When she's ready to let go of that routine she will.

my daughter is 9 months as well and doesn't always want to hold her bottle, mostly she just wants to look at it and ask "was da?"
Pretty much the only time she'll hold it herself and keep it in her mouth is when she is REALLY hungry. Try getting your little one to hold his bottle when hes very hungry, maybe in the morning or after a long nap. I would just hold it in front of my daughter tipped down at an angle and she usually keeps it up so she doesn't get air.

I also have a 9.5 month old..she can bring the bottle to her mouth..but she does not get the concept to lift it up...I have the little handles that go on the bottles also..she could care less..lol She self feeds though and is doing great in other areas..so I am not worried..she will do it when she wants too..enjoy the last moments of having to hold it..at least that's the way I am looking at it=)))

I started putting bottle handles on my born free bottles for formula when Miya was 7.5 months old. I also introduced a sippy for water at 7 months. In the beginning she couldn't hold the bottles even with the handles because they were too heavy but she got the hang of it pretty fast and at about 9 months she held it all by herself with no problem.

My son wont hold his own bottle if he is on our laps but I have laid him on the floor slightly proped up by a pillow and he will hold his own bottle now. As a result of doing this he now holds his own sippy cup too.

My son(9yrs ago) never once held his own bottle. At 11 months, i offered him a sippy cup with handles, and that was the end of that. He was on sippy cups from that point in time. My daughter(almost 9mos old) never held her bottle, but has been drinking from a sippy cup with handles with the spout since she was 6 mos old, and has recently moved onto sippy cups with the straw (i like this more as not so much leaks out, she gets thawed breast milk) She holds everything herself. I sometimes wish i hadnt introduced the cups, but she took to them very well. I do miss her needing me to hold it for her, but we still have the cuddle time while she is holding it. Now i can hold her and play with her hair or rub her hand or feet:) Good luck!
