My little girl the last few weeks has started to rub her ears alot and is now pulling on them quite alot but she mainly does it to her left ear. I took her to the see a doctor thinking she may have an ear infection but they told me she was fine and left with no answer to why he might be doing. In the last few days though she has started to scream if we lie her down in the bath to wash her hair or pour water over her head as soon as the water touches her ears and she will sit herself back up to avoid the water. she has alot fo hair aswell so not washing it most days isnt an option. Is anyone else experiencing anything simular or got any suggestions as my doctors dont want to know me and think im just another over reacting parent.

Thanks x

My little man is KNOWN for ear infections. We have to meet with an EARS, KNOWS & THROAT dr this month for tubes.
BUT. The last few times I've taken him in was because he was pulling at his ears.. Just to find out; hes got a whole mouth full of teeth coming in.
Its been over 2.5 weeks & hes still pulling at them.. and I took him back yesterday, due to him falling off of our bed.. and He checked his ears.. & they're fine.
The teething process takes FOREVER lol.

There are tools out there that you can buy to check their ears on your own.
Then maybe you'd feel better =]

Ive also heard that they're discovering the diff parts of the body haha. My lil man pulls his hair all the time.. just because its there.
Hope this helps.

I have heard a pulling of ear can be associated with teething. My son has been doing it. He went to the doctor yesterday and she said that his top two are due to come very soon. We already have our bottom two. Good luck!

Unfortunately I don't have any suggestions but we are experiencing the same thing. My baby has been doing this since she starting teething at 5 months (she's now ten months). She also does it when she's tired or cranky. At her last visit the doctor didn't mention an ear infection but now after reading these posts, I think I might go ahead and schedule a visit to make sure! I heard that for sure their ears bother them with teething. I have given Miya homeopathic teething drops and tablets which help a lot with the pain and reduces ear pulling.

like some of the other babies mentioned above my lo pulls his ears sometimes but doesn't seem upset when they are touched or when water is poured on them at bath time. i believe in his case it is teeth related. in your case it sounds a lot worse and i would agree that you need to get a second medical opinion... maybe present at emergency? people do it here (ireland) sometimes if they don't get a satisfactory response from their doctor. more tests are done in hospital... might not be an option for you

Take her back to the doctor. Ear infections show up in just a few hrs. It may have been a wired chance she was pulling her ear for no reason in the start, but now that anything touch's her ear she cries i would have to say it's an ear infection. I know my son pulls on his ear when he is teething but he does not cry when things touch his ear.

My daughter has been doing the same things. I have taken her in 3 times in the last 6 weeks. She had an ear infection the first time. Second time was a recheck. He said they were clear. Third time he said they looked normal. My dd cut all 4 front teeth in a month. The doc said their ears may bug them from this...

My dr told me just because they don't have an ear infection today doesn't mean she Wont have one tomorrow. Turns out mine was teething but if it continues or gets worse I would revisit the dr. Better safe than sorry is my motto
