Im sure im not the only one who doesnt want to wait for there Due Date, and i know there are a few of you who have already pasted you due date with no baby yet. And then there are the lucky ones who got there little ones early.

I want to be an early mom, I am trying everything possible to not try to induce myself before 38 weeks but its killing me, im so impatient, so uncomfortable and just ready to meet my little girl. The date i have chosen for myself as an alternative Dute date is May 18th, i cant wait till the 26th i can barely wait till tommorow. So anyway please share your ideas of ways to start you labor or naturaly induce yourself if you know any.

I plan on buying some evening prime rose oil capsules this weekend and taking them from 37 weeks on. Then after 38 weeks im going to use the actual oil as a rub, to try and start things, i have been drinking rasberry leaf tea my whole pregnancy and i plan on getting more exercize. I went for a 30 minute walk today and had very small contractions on my walk i would say 5 then a 2-3 more when i got home before they stopped so im hoping my efforts her in a few weeks will get me my baby. Of course then thing thats most important is that she is healthy even if she is late and really big

Well i was Due yesterday. It's now 10am DD+1 and i finally got my house keys the night before last so we're packing cleaning and decorating. If that isn't a way to get a baby out i don't know what is....... except maybe the polar opposite of resting and relaxing, but who gets to do that with a 19 month old anyway!?!?
Lo climbed out of the cot this morning for the first time. Just what i needed.

Its so funny that you have picked an 'alternate due date' for yourself! I have too! lol My due date for my llittle princess is May 24th and We have decided that May 14th sounds just fine! lol Im absolutely going BANANAS waiting for this little girl to come out and grace us with her presents! I swear I get more anxious by the minute. And not have ANY clue as to when 'its going to happen' is simply unbearable. Like I dont know if I'm the only one that thinks like this, but sometimes I find myself thinking , like "I wonder if Im going to be able to feed the kids dinner tonight, or am I going to go into labor before 5:30' or 'I better make sure the laundry is ALL out away and I lay the kids clothes out, in case I go into labor tonight and my mom has to get the kids to school' Theres just sooo many things that run through my head! I'm ligit starting to go nuts! and not to mention, that I have very graciously allowed this little angel full range to take over my entire body, like she really has an entire uterus to roll around in but for some reason she still feels the need to swing from my rib cage! LOL I have tried EVERYTHING to get this baby party started and NOTHING has worked, I've tried walking, marching, sex, spicey foods, lemon zest, dancing around, pressure points....NOTHING works :( but I still have one last hope...Tomorrow my DR has agreed to 'strip my membranes which works when I was pregnant with my son. So Im praying that it will work this time too! and hopefully I'll have by baby over the weekend at some point :)

Yeah maybe it's the money, In my case i suppose its the instability. I'm off meds and very dodgy some days!!!
This pregnancy and life surrounding it has been so difficult for us both i imagine it wont be a nice time to reflect back on.
And then theres the total lack of sex xD

I don't get the guys thinking...I mean it's not like they do all the work for the kids right? We carry them for 9 months, we birth them, we Brest EEC them, we wake in the night with them etc, why do they care if we want more! Lol I guess maybe it's cuz they don't want to have such a tint budget! Makes sense oi guess, but still we don't need loads of money!

Lost all my plug though!! If there is anymore in there i'll be suprised....
I want more. I've always wanted lots. 3 or 4. But he pretty much point blank refused to start with, and now he's saying MAYBE but not until the kids are at least 7 and 8. I reckon i'll get him when they're 4/5 ;)

I lost what must have been the rest of my plug this morning. The ADHD doesn't help me remember in the SLIGHTESTS when it was that i lost it last time. I've asked my mother.... The liklihood of her remembering is slim to none but it gives me hope.
The Phall curry i had last night made my eyelids sweat. Got Acid and RLS and didn't get to sleep til 5am. No contractions though :|

And everyone thinks automatically because you get to your due date they can just bug you every day asking is it born yet??? Next pregnancy I'm not telling anyone a date, I'm going to say, between x and x date. A nice four week window from 38 to 42 weeks so they don't get all antsy on one specific day!

Good Laura.
I agree that going over is sad and stressful.
I don't know that i entirly agree with due dates... they give a woman this goal and this specific time scale when really, gestation is up to two weeks after. Women aren't told enough about the length of time getation could/would/should be and try to, or like my mother, ACTUALLY induce labour themselves at 40 weeks. It can be dangerous for our mentality!!!

It's hard getting to your due date and watching it go by without a baby! I feel such sympathy for all the women who go past the due date! Including myself of course, pity party over here! I'm glad it's not dangerous for her to stay in, but I sure wish it would hurry up and get labor going already! I have til the 42 week mark, which is the 15th until I'd have to be induced so I know I've got time, but it's really getting to be time now if you know what I mean!

But the good news is Fierna is healthy and well, just still inside me :P

I talked to my midwives yesterday and they want me to wait till after my next appointment before i start :trying so that i have her with out the little added risk, they have great stats and im sure they are just being cautious but thats ok to, i went on a 6 hour shopping trip yesterday and had some contractions that didnt really hurt other then my belly was so tight it hurt to try to reach and move around during one from the pulling not the actuall contraction

we too have started trying to get things started.. we have started having sex, done the spicy food thing, cant stand curry so thats not an option, been walking and cleaning up a storm too.. i am in sooo much pain constantly at this point betweent he nerve damage acting up in my arm and my fibromyalgia mixed with the normal pregnancy pains i just get no break ever from the pain and there is no way i could take any pain meds that would actually do me any help either cause it wouldnt be good for the babies.. these two babies need to come out already but my doctor cant induce me until the 38 week mark per hospital policy (so another 2 weeks) so its up to me and my hubby to figure out some way to make it happen before then.. now my daily goal is to get into labor not just have contractions for a few hours and then they stop.....

Either i'm missing something or i haven't had any contractions for over a week.
I'm not good at differentiating between a stretching limb and a solid belly.... Sometimes he's so low i can clench my muscles and feel him moving back up.
We had mothers day here last month. I got a homemade card and a cup of coffee! xD So nothing like that, except the numerous "Oh, if you have him on the *Th it's my birthday! So have him then!!!" comments. Everyone seems to have been born in May.
I don't think your being pessimistic Laura. Genuinly, i think you're being rather optemistic considering the circumstances. I'm sure the in laws wont foist the dougal back on you as soon as Fierna is here. They're surely not THAT inconsiderate.... Though mine probably would be.
You don't have to let ANYONE take her in the car or anywhere until you are 100% comfortable, regardless of how much they might want to. So don't worry about dissapointing them either. I bet the sil will be fine, baby will be here by then i'd bet on it. And even if she isn't, Sil will understand!!!!

Here's a p**s off - I start walking every time contractions start but it seems to stop them but sitting hurts down there as well. Good grief. IF I have a third one in the future, it's NOT going to be a taurus!!! Hubby's last day of work for 2 weeks is Saturday, hoping he gets to spend some time with bub. However, a friend of mine who had a baby a month to go ended up actually going the full 42 weeks because everytime they scheduled to induce her, the hospital was full and they couldn't fit her in. She finally went into labor on her own after 3 rescheduled appointments lol.

I do like being pregnant and I honestly don't mind it even now, but my sister is in town til Sunday at the latest, and I want her to be able to spend time with us after Fierna is born. Also my mil and fil have our dog and it's heavenly that she is out of my house but I don't want to have them ready to dump her back on us as soon as I push the baby out! Also it's mothers day on Sunday and I'd ,ove having my daughter by then, and matt has three really big shifts at work fri, sat, and sun and we NEED the money so I really don't want to make him miss the shifts cuz I'm in labor!
So it's today, it's got to be today! And when it doesn't happen today I'll just get even more depressed. Oh and also my sister in law is coming in next thurdsady for a rare visit from Florida and she is intending on seeing a baby by then! And I had wanted Fia to be a week old or more so I felt comfortable letting others hold her or take her in the car etc, but now I'm worrying that I won't even have a baby by then!
Ok I'm a bit psycho and a bit impatient and a bit pessimistic, and also pretty worried I'm disappointing all my friends and family because they are all waiting on pins and needles wanting me to have this baby and I feel helpless to know when she is coming out, I can't make her get out! I've been walking so much, and dancing around with Eric too, and we even had sex last night which ended up hurting me inside but I hope it helped!
Ok, I think that's it. Phew, 9 month pregnancy rant I guess. I just about cry when I imagine holding my little girl and I seriously can't wait much longer!

"Human gestation is between 38-42 weeks and the due date is just an estimation"
Oh bugger them all.... When they say they'll induce you most of the time they're just trying to keep you from breaking your own waters or something stupid (Part of the reason i'm so messed up i imagine, my mother ruptured her membranes with a crochet hook...)
I was high risk due to my Bi-Polar and got told they wouldn't let me go over my due date. I got a sweep the day before and then was told to make an appointment for Dd+1wk!!! I was speechless. I'd been assured i wouln't have to wait!
It didn't make a difference in the end of course but here they really tend not to induce NON complication pregnancies before 40+12-14. Even then induction can take a few days. a friend of mine was in labour 43 hours after being stuck on her IV. Bless her.
BLESS US ALL!!!!

laura for my first i was told that they induce if the baby is 5 days late, i went to a hospital it could be thats the case, standard procedure and what not, you and i are lucky that outside the hospital we get to go with the flow as long as baby is alright. I find it suprizeing that even though OBs admit that due dates are plus or minus 10 days with accuracy that most wont let you be 10 days late. I wouldnt want to be that late but it should be a choice

I'm still pregnant :/ while I adore pregnancy and honest to God never wish it to be over, I do want to see my baby, I have my sister here with us for a fee days but I want Fierna born before she has to go back to Madison! I have my sister in law coming in next Thursday from Florida and I have to have a baby by then! And I was hoping Fierna would be a week or older before I let lots of people come over and hold her, but if she takes much longer I won't be able to say no!
Contracted alot today, walked on a long walk, walked through the store for a long time, bf Eric a bunch, waed around the mall for a LOnG time and still as I sit here the contractions are still mild and Fierna is like jumping around in there seemingly perfectly content. *sigh* she wants to be fashionably late I guess. What a drama queen! I want to see her now!

It's fun to try all of those home remedies like spicy food, walking the mall, sex, riding on bumpy roads ect. I admit I tried several things also. It never did anything though. I usually went into labor in the middle of the night when I was at complete rest. Not saying they don't work, but I don't think they work for everyone. i heard that the bigger your baby is, the more work your stomache does to push the baby out. Meaning you don't have to push as long or hard to deliver. But don't know if it's true and with your hips being small, you could end up with a c-section. But maybe not. sometimes women with smaller hips, have smaller babies too. My boys were around 8 lbs. My girl, 7 lbs my first (boy) was the only one that took an hour to push out. Good luck to you. I know how you feel and will be in the same spot come November.

I do take lots of baths but my tub is really shallow and doesn't cover much of my belly anymore as well as use my rice sock and heating pad. I totally forgot till now that my birth center has a tens machine, i was lucky enough that labor with my first daughter had no back pain at all, it was so concentrated on my uterus that i remeber thinking how great it was not to be in nerve pain ontop of contractions. I'll have to ask my Midwives if maybe i can use the tens machine for a little bit after or during one of my appointments to see if it helps, thank for the suggestion

I imagine you've probably tried everything, but i hear tens machines are good for stimulation of the sciatic nerve and used to help severe pelvic and muscle pain.
Pelvic girdle pain runs in our family too, and every woman in the family has arthritis so i've got it all coming. I feel your pain.... I hope you can take plenty of relaxing hot baths!!!

Sorry to hear about all your stress over the job and living arrangements, thats tough. We are just now getting back on our feet from me being off work then my husband getting laid off but he went back this week. Stress def. works against your bodies natural reflexes to have a baby so hopefully once you settle into your new place you can relax a bit and your baby will want to come out.

as the pelvic bones and muscles go, i have a genetic condition that causes my ligaments and tendents to always be loose, so they dont loosen much more during pregnancy and labor and rather then helping the relaxin causes me lots of pain during the end of pregnancy in my joints. One of the reasons i want it to be over, it hurts to walk and sit and once i lay down the compression of my vertabrae releases and then i get sharp nerve pain through my back and legs from over stimulation. The only way i can avoid that is by laying on my stomach which isnt really a option now.lol

Yeah we looked into the benefits of RLTea in general and in pregnancy. It's amazing some of the totall BS and pointless crap you learn about things ;)
Have you been doing perineal massage? I have a pretty small frame (5ft 2 and still a size 10 now at 9 months pregnant) and i discovered our pelvis relaxes (obviouslly it's harder if it's smaller) for the passage of babies head during labour. The hormones, one of which im pretty sure is relaxin, basically turns the main joint point into a jelly so it's easier to widen and stretch. If you tore it's more likely to do with the skin and muscle around and inside your vagina rather than your pelvis.... I spent the last trimester doing a big of massage, i think labour would have been worse if i hadn't.
I got a 2nd degree tear that i refused stitches for. I'm of the opinion that a minor tear is better than an episiotomy.
Personal preference, even though it hurt like hell...
I'm due in 6 days. I know why baby isn't showing, its because my body is radiating stress signals 24/7, and it's not the right enviroment for baby to be born.
I'm due to move house this week (finally) after a rough eviction and financial upheaval and the end of a univeristy year and losing my job.... Not suprised he wants to stay in. I either want him now or in a months time, and i doubt thats going to happen!!!

I can def. understand how frustrating it would be to get negative posts, it is our babies and not anyone elses, and im not trying for a premie, I actually took myself off work because while i was working in my 2nd trimester i was having hard contractions after a 5 hour day at work on my feet, I wanted her to stay in till "full term" which is 37 weeks to most but 38 weeks at my birth center. Im glade i haven't had any of those type of comments. and thanks for the support. I am not going to do to much just want to encourage her not force her to come out. both the raspberry leaf tea and evening prime rose oil don't actually help "start" labor they just encourage your cervix a little. The rose oil helps soften and thin your cervix with prostiglandins (the same thing in sperm) and the tea tones your uterus by targeting the "Braxton Hicks" directly on your uterus in a more even matter so that it helps to slowly dilate you, it doesn't cause contractions just makes everyone useful.

My main concern in this pregnancy is that she is going to be to big. and if she comes around the same time my first daughter did i feel better about the size she will be and how easily she will come out. My daughter came our with less then 30 minutes pushing for my first baby. she was 6.7 oz and i tore very badly, so im afraid that if this baby is bigger i will tear worse or that she wont come out. Im only 4"11 and my bones stopped growing when i was 13, so i have a small pelvis that never really "widened" I do want my baby to be close to her due date just not after, i just want my body to get the hint that it is getting close

I got absolutly crucified for making a post like this when i was pregnant with my first baby.
The sheer amount of:
"You're wishing ILL on your child!" And "Some mother's really preemy babies and you're WANTING yours early?!?!?" comments really brought me down.
In my case i had pretty severe SPD and suffer from Bi-Polar, i was depressed and had insomnia and had never been through it before, so all the pain i was going through wasn't enough to convince me my son (who was measuring perfectly and had no complications whatsoever) was ready to come and it wouldn't benefit me or him at all to have him stay in!!!
I tried raspberry leaf, pinapple, the hottest curry the indian restaurant could make, sex (a lot of sex....) walking all the time (i had no stairs but i stayed in work until i was due and walked to and from my families houses, a mile a time, numberouns times a day)
I DID NOT and WOULD NOT RECCOMEND castor oil. It's dangerous and disgusting.
They say (well, they say a lot of things....) that when you're about ready you get looser bowels. Hence some of the things you eat to try and trigger that internal reflex. Not my preffered method of tellin my body i'm ready but it might work for you!
Nipple stimulation was another, as Laura said, BFding her little one made the contractions harder and it's a fact that your body releases oxytocin and endorphines and relaxin and various other hormones when your aroused or breastfeeding.....
A sweep, done by a midwife is basically just gentle manipulation of the membranes, and sex is a pretty similar thing, i wouldn't reccomend sticking your hand up there, but it does supposedly work.
It didn't for me like ;)
I had one on the 15th. Was due on the 16th. ON the 16th i went bowling. Yes, yes i did, it did nothing.... OR SO I THOUGHT!!!
On the Saturday (the 17th!!) i went shopping all day then went to a gig. Stood pretty much next to the speakers which were blasting rock music all night, went home at 11 and lay on the sofa with a bag of chocolate peanuts and had a baby at 8am the next morning after 9 hours of labour xD!!!!
So who knows.
Try and be patient. Make sure EVERYTHING is sorted, the nesting, cleaning and light exercising will help you be fit for after the birth anyway so you might as well get going!!
Good luck :)

I was born a week early, and my first daughter was induced 1 week before her due date but they estimate she was around 4 weeks early, but I was already have contractions i didnt feel, dilated at 2 cm and it only took one round or cirvical ripener to get things going so they were pretty sure it was goign to be anyday that i would go into labor anyway, they just didnt feel that it was safe to wait. So im hoping my body goes with it this time to and i have her a week or so on my own. Not going to try anything major like Castor oil but i am feeling very ready and i think she might be also

Well I'm the over due one right now :) and today was the first day I was completely ok with her being born and so I began praying. Begging God to let me start labor! Well it started! I've had contractions all day, went for an hour long walk this morning. Cleaned the heck out of my house this evening. And my secret weapon is of course Eric who has breastfed a ton today which brings on the strongest contractions!
Oh and we had sex yesterday to try to start things up!
I find if I sit strait upright I get more harder contractions, but even laying down I'm getting them still.
So I think it's my time finally! I'm so ready and so excited and I don't even care how much it hurts, I just want it to get going more!
Well, I'm going to go bf Eric to sleep and hopefully get some contractions even harder!
Hopefully I have news of Fiernas birth very soon. I'll post ASAP, of course it will be a while before I even remember the computer but I'm sure I will be eager to come share how it went. Ps as of tomorrow morning I'll be 3 days overdue :)
