My 15 month old has randomly decided to become a picky eater!!

I'm hoping this is just a stage!?!

My son (15 months) used to eat everything at first vegetables, pasta, chicken, you name it. However he seriously woke up one day and decided he was no longer going to eat vegetables, pasta unless it had sauce, rice unless it was mixed with something, and the list goes on. When I go to give him vegetables he spits them out. If he so much as see's corn, peas, carrots in his food he will refuse to eat. He pretty much only want's to eat fruit, mac & cheese, grilled cheese, chicken, or spaghetti. I have noticed if I buy him the Chef Boyardee Rice with Chicken & Vegetables he will eat that. Obviously he cannot live off of just those things, he needs his vegetables. Now it may be mean but i'm not going to sit there and make him 20 different meals for lunch/dinner until he decides to eat. When I make him food and he throws a tantrum because he doesn't like it i've said ok fine you don't eat then & try again later. I've tried leaving the food he refuses to eat on his plate until he decides to eat them. However he is stubborn and he will not give in.

Does anyone else have this problem? If so how did you deal with it?

Yep! It's a phase, indeed.. If you want your child to try other foods, make sure it's not on an empty stomach. Make sure you give them just a few bites of familiar food and gradually get them to try new things at each meal. Don't force it b/c then they will not want to try it. But let them get accustomed to other things after they have eaten something they are used to, they're less likely to turn it down if they aren't starving. Hope everything turns out well!

I've tried mixing the vegetables in with things he likes but he always seems to know & spits the food out. I tried to give him the stage 3 baby food vegetables to see if he will eat them that way & he does. However i'm not sure if that's a good idea. To me it's like going back a step?

I have a 16 month old. When she doesn't want to eat her veggies I always put them in the food processor until the y are really small and put them in sauce to put on pasta or rice. She eats them a lot better and at least she is getting them. She likes to eat the same things as your son and she is 16 months. I am hoping it is just a stage. I just sneak whatever I can into her food whenever I can. I've also started giving her a multivitamin. I hope this helps somewhat. Just know that you're not alone. I'm sure everyone goes through this at some point!!

hmm, can you make something mixed up like blend the vegetables and mix it with something he likes so he doesn't actaully see the veges? My kids are picky but they actually went for and still go for veges first!
